It’s way too easy to watch the news and believe the worst about law enforcement. It’s videos like this one that can remind us who the heroes in our society really are.
Today marks day one of the trial of a police officer in Minneapolis, whose innocence will continue to be presumed, unless and until the day a court of law tells us otherwise.
In light of that, we can expect all the worst sort of rhetoric about our police. But as someone with an uncle that served his whole working life as a small-town cop, I know that’s a wildly unfair characterization.
The news is designed to highlight the most horrible stories they can find. ‘If it bleeds, it leads.’
For that reason, we at ClashDaily choose to be deliberately counter-cultural in using this moment to remind us all of exactly why, until about five minutes ago, we all understood that ‘thin blue line’ was mainly comprised of heroes doing an entirely thankless job for not very much pay.
Their entire job description is built around meeting people on their worst day, and handling whatever gets thrown at them — anything from car crashes, to missing children, to ordinary criminal activity, to… what you are about to see on this 9-1-1 call.
Before criticizing law enforcement, remember that they run to threats not away from them. The next time it may be you calling for help. pic.twitter.com/uf5i0SN4z3

Imagine for a moment that this was someone you knew calling for help… and that the guy hearing this call was your last hope in a very bad situation.
Can we stop pretending that the police are our society’s bad guys?
If we teach a new generation that they cannot trust the police to call them in a situation like this one, how do you really imagine a scenario like the one on the other end of that phone would play out?
Kudos to the unnamed girl who made that call. We hope and pray she finds herself in a better situation. It takes a special kind of courage.
In Doug Giles’ latest book, Biblical Badasses: The Women, Giles spotlights ten epic ladies who did awesome things for God with the odds severely stacked against them. These girls weren’t your typical church ladies. They were holy movers and shakers who upset hell with their God-honoring, faith-filled, lives. Giles’ unique take on these terrific women makes the scripture come alive. This book is real, raw, relevant, and irreverent. Giles’ prayer is that after reading, Biblical Badasses: The Women, not only will your noggin be filled with these amazing tales of high and lows from real women who rocked in a hard place, via the power of God, but that you will get off your butt, quit pursuing stupidity, start chasing down your high calling and at the end of your life, you too, like the holy femme fatales featured herein, will have left a massive scar on Satan’s haggard backside.
