Had Jonathan Edwards known that Princeton would one day be reduced to this, he’d likely have burned the damned place down himself.
Like so many of these Ivy League schools, the original mandate was to prepare and equip able ministers of the gospel.
Wiki is a deeply flawed source to cite, but for things like dates and founding details, they usually do ok.
Princeton University, founded as the College of New Jersey, was considered the successor of the “Log College” founded by the Reverend William Tennent at Neshaminy, PA (near present-day Warminster, PA) in about 1726. New Light Presbyterians founded the College of New Jersey in 1746 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Its purpose was to train ministers. –Wiki
But today? Today, even Princeton’s theological program sounds more like a Marxist political meeting than something centered on the person and redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
Here we have examples of Princeton defending the indefensible, explaining why they are having RACIALLY-SEGREGATED classes with exactly the kinds of conversations about race that you might have expected a BLM activist to write into the curriculum. They are teaching the Orwellian concept of ‘anti-racism’.
Naturally, they will be making this indoctrination — er ‘education’ — mandatory.
See for yourself:
Here’s a sample of what they’ll be getting.
The training, presented by outside consultants Laurie Carlsson and Dr. Michelle Majors, hosted three separate groups for participants to join for their training:
A “white-only space” to ““grapple with our whiteness and how we’ve been socialized, in a way that does not harm our colleagues and co-students of color.”
A group “only open to students who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color,”
An integrated group for those “who are uncomfortable with either of these scenarios.”
The trainings, according to the video, were aimed at helping students and faculty “achieve their anti-racism goals.”Dr. Majors states that the segregated groups are designed to “[create] safety and support while addressing the personal institutional challenges of becoming an anti-racist institution.”
Both Carlsson and Majors fail to highlight how–in their attempts to become anti-racist–the institution is straying closer to the very segregation that took the civil rights movement decades to overcome. — YAF
The primacy of race- and gender-based political theories in this conversation is a serious ‘tell’ that their idea of salvation has far more to do with making sure the public buys into a ‘woke’ political worldview than it does with any message centered upon having a heart that has been transformed by an encounter with the risen Lord, and the indwelling of His Holy Spirit.
Anyone with a lick of sense and any real familiarity with the New Testament would understand it was precisely this inward change in a critical mass of people that generated the outward change in overthrowing the prevailing Roman culture of slave ownership. When modern slavery later regained a foothold in the West, through interaction with cultures where slavery was still practiced, it was, once again, the passion of devout and pious Christians that led the abolition movement which shut it down.
The heartbeat of the Christian answer to sin — including sin of hatred toward others — is NOT, as this training would suggest, a more stringent application of external rules. In fact, that is exactly the practice of the Pharisees which Jesus denounced with these famous words in Matt 23:15.
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.
The heartbeat of the Christian answer to sin is transformative grace changing the heart, and giving a new love and respect for others.
Setting down this path, these Princeton educators are doomed to fail, in two ways: both in solving the problem of racial strife, because their rule-making doesn’t change hearts, and in creating Christian leaders, because they are making better Pharisees.

If Masculinity Is ‘Toxic’, Call Jesus Radioactive
Much of the Left loathes masculinity and they love to paint Jesus as a non-offensive bearded woman who endorses their agenda. This book blows that nonsense all to hell. From the stonking laptop of bestselling author, Doug Giles, comes a new book that focuses on Jesus’ overt masculine traits like no other books have heretofore. It’s informative, bold, hilarious, and scary. Giles has concluded, after many years of scouring the scripture that, If Masculinity Is ‘Toxic’, Call Jesus Radioactive.
