California added five more states, including Florida, to the list of places where state-funded travel is banned because of laws that discriminate against members of the LGBTQ community, the state attorney general announced Monday.
Democratic Attorney General Rob Bonta added Florida, Arkansas, Montana, North Dakota and West Virginia to the list that now has 17 states where state employee travel is forbidden except under limited circumstances.
“Make no mistake: We’re in the midst of an unprecedented wave of bigotry and discrimination in this country — and the State of California is not going to support it,” Bonta said. — WFLA
I guess nobody told Bonta that it is already illegal to discriminate against anybody for such reasons, and if someone thinks they are being discriminated against they can take it to court.
But what California would call ‘discrimination’ is the refusal to create new rights out of whole cloth. Like insisting that the correct response to anyone experiencing gender dysphoria (including children) is irreversibly sterilizing body-altering surgery.
In this instance, they are upset about states changing the definitions of women’s sports in a way that will disadvantage athletes who have competed for all of their lives as girls.
Cali doesn’t LIKE how other states are running their own affairs and has taken upon themselves a right to dictate to other states how they NEED to operate. While Dems claim to be the great defenders of the Democratic porcess.
Maybe their long success of dumping millions of dollars into Red State electoral races to make them match Left Coast priorities rather than the actual priorities of citizens who live there has confused them about how America is supposed to work.
But Florida isn’t likely to be bullied by some ineffective California AG who would rather get political to distract from the sorry fact that can’t even figure out how to deal with crime in his own state.
There are enough fires raging in your own backyard that need your attention, California. Tend to them. Florida and the other States are able to handle themselves just fine without your nanny-state ‘supervision’.
If that means your government flunkies won’t be visiting? Even better.
