Abbott may not be the rock-ribbed conservative on some issues his base cares about. But on the life issue, he’s swinging for the fences.

This is exactly the sort of thing the Framers had in mind by putting forward a Federalism in which the states for the most part create a framework of laws that best represents the values of the state which might prioritize very different things than another state does.

With the shift in the balance in the courts, New York and some other blue states established aggressively pro-abortion laws, just to make sure the priorities they esteem were entrenched, no matter what people in D.C. might have to say about the matter.

Their pro-abortion laws were changed so aggressively that even statutes that allowed an abuser to be charged with murder if he caused the death of an unborn child that an expectant mother wanted to bring into the world were struck down in the process.

The left cheered that as a wonderful example of good governance, and defense of the core values of their state. Let’s see if they have the moral consistency to cheer Federalism when the values being defended are NOT values they themselves hold personally.

The left wanted to protect their pro-abortion values in the event that Roe v. Wade was overturned. The Right has some very different values.

Governor Abbott just signed the Human Life Protection Act (House Bill 1280).

It, much like Democrats in blue states, anticipates a day when Roe V. Wade could be overturned, and this legislation is a ‘trigger bill’ which is designed to take effect once Roe v. Wade is struck down.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed another pro-life bill in Texas on Tuesday, one that would completely ban abortions as soon as the U.S. Supreme Court allows states to do so.

Abbott signed the Human Life Protection Act (House Bill 1280). Sometimes referred to as a “trigger bill,” the legislation would protect unborn babies by banning abortions completely or as much as the U.S. Supreme Court allows when it overturns Roe v. Wade. The ban would go into effect 30 days after the Supreme Court rules. Exceptions would be allowed for risks to the mother’s life or a “substantial impairment of major bodily function.” Abortionists who violate the measure could face fines or prison time.

“I’m signing a law today that will save babies from the ravages of abortion,” Abbott said during a signing ceremony.“Under this law, the moment Roe v. Wade is overturned abortions will be outlawed in the state of Texas.” — LifeNews

Are there areas of his leadership that can be criticized as ‘not conservative enough’? You bet.

But the life issue isn’t one of them.

And the left HATES him for it. Then again, someone promised we’d all be hated for doing the right thing, didn’t He?

If Masculinity Is ‘Toxic’, Call Jesus Radioactive

Much of the Left loathes masculinity and they love to paint Jesus as a non-offensive bearded woman who endorses their agenda. This book blows that nonsense all to hell. From the stonking laptop of bestselling author, Doug Giles, comes a new book that focuses on Jesus’ overt masculine traits like no other books have heretofore. It’s informative, bold, hilarious, and scary. Giles has concluded, after many years of scouring the scripture that, If Masculinity Is ‘Toxic’, Call Jesus Radioactive.
