Nicki Minaj tweeted about the coronavirus enraging fans, lefty journos, and… MSNBC’s Joy Reid. Minaj is not backing down even though she’s getting substantial backlash.
A fascinating thing happened on Twitter on Monday — Nicki Minaj tweeted about the coronavirus when it was revealed that she wouldn’t be going to the Met Gala that evening. Her fans were disappointed because she hasn’t made a public appearance in over a year. During the pandemic, Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty welcomed their first child.
In a 2015 MTV documentary, Minaj said that she was excited with the idea of becoming a “little housewife” taking care of her husband and baby and taking a break from music.
Here’s a clip that one of her fans posted when she announced in 2019 that she was planning on retiring to focus on her family.
@NICKIMINAJ please don’t leave us like that ? the barbz are excited for the baby and all but please don’t full on retire?. I grew up singing did it on em, starships, pound the alarm and many many more. onika please don’t leave us yet ? maybe maternity leave? #NickiMinaj pic.twitter.com/0a7l7ul0kF

Minaj’s retirement was short-lived, but she’s still been able to take time with her son while things were closed for the better part of two years.
It’s pretty clear that she’s not in a big hurry to rush back into the limelight.
So, when she was tagged on Twitter for not going to the Met Gala, she responded with her reasons why she chose to skip it.
I have an infant with no nannies during COVID. who mad? Not risking his health to be seen. One yaself. https://t.co/z1uo2OHO1b
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 13, 2021
When someone tweeted that she appeared to be afraid of COVID, she responded that she got COVID and had to be isolated for a week. Minaj isn’t vaccinated, but she noted that Drake revealed recently that he had COVID after being vaccinated.
Love u babe. I was prepping for vmas then i shot a video & guess who got COVID? Do u know what it is not to be able to kiss or hold your tiny baby for over a week? A baby who is only used to his mama? “get vaccinated” Drake had just told me he got covid w|THE VACCINE tho so chile https://t.co/wInXoJcHBn

It was around this point that the Fauci-worshippers starting explaining why she needed the vaccine despite already recovering from COVID.
Babe. That’s not true. I had the exact same symptoms as ppl with the damn vaccine https://t.co/8Vg60ubZxx
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 13, 2021
Like millions of other Americans who contracted and recovered from COVID, Minaj has natural immunity.
When asked about an Israeli study showing that natural immunity was more robust at preventing serious illness than the vaccines, Dr. Fauci said that — even though we’re 19 months into this pandemic — he’s still not sure if people who have had COVID should be vaccinated.
Minaj, like many other people, has questions about that. Before the virus from China, natural immunity was considered to be a thing that protects someone from re-infection. But now that we have seen that the vaccine efficacy is “waning” fairly quickly, we’re not really allowed to ask questions.
She said she wouldn’t just get vaccinated because of the Met’s requirements, she’s checking things out herself.
They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one ?♥️
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 13, 2021
Then things went off the rails…
She tweeted, “My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.”

Okay, so that’s probably not from the vaccine… that guy should really see a doctor and probably take some antibiotics.
Interestingly, Twitter didn’t flag her post because it didn’t violate their strange rules on COVID misinformation. An official at Twitter said that it’s because it was a “personal anecdote” — but let’s be real, it’s probably her 22 million followers that gave them pause in taking action on her account.
But then an interesting thing happened… MSNBC’s token Black female host decided to weigh in on her show about Minaj’s alleged “anti-vax” tweet.
.@JoyAnnReid responds to @NICKIMINAJ‘s tweets on the #COVID19 vaccine: “For you to use your platform to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives… As a fan, I am so sad that you did that.” #TheReidOut #reiders pic.twitter.com/nmr85LSmug
— The ReidOut (@thereidout) September 13, 2021
On Twitter, Minaj’s tweets were blowing up, and during the back and forth, she was labeled “anti-vax” even though she had advised people to get the vaccine. She even tweeted that she’d likely get the vaccine herself when she decides to go on tour. Reid seems to have missed all of that.
Minaj didn’t back down and she blasted Reid with both barrels. It was priceless.
This is what happens when you’re so thirsty to down another black woman (by the request of the white man), that you didn’t bother to read all my tweets. “My God SISTER do better” imagine getting ur dumb ass on tv a min after a tweet to spread a false narrative about a black woman https://t.co/4UviONyTHy
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 14, 2021
Why would they bother to read when the lie is so juicy & provocative & got her dumb ass on tv. They got someone with black skin for a reason. They always use us against us. https://t.co/Cdr6YaYYQo
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 14, 2021
The two white men sittin there nodding their heads cuz this uncle tomiana doing the work chile. How sad. https://t.co/4UviONyTHy
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 14, 2021
Tomiana purposely chose to ignore these tweets & others. I wonder why pic.twitter.com/TRY7ti2nlc
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 14, 2021
Then she went in for the kill-shot:
A lying homophobic coon
I guess I can join in the reindeer games too right? Ppl can go on tv & lie on me, I can report on them, too right? ☺️. Doesn’t have to be truths. It can be half truths.
Uncle Tomiana asked who on earth would trust the US FDA guys…@JoyAnnReid pic.twitter.com/tt93FM85uc
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 14, 2021
Reid said that her blog was “hacked” and the FBI was investigating it, but there’s been no word on that for years now.
So many people want to get to the bottom of this mystery on what happened with Joy Reid’s blog.
On The Breakfast Club on Tuesday, hosts Charlamagne Tha God and Angela Yee discussed how Reid completely misrepresented Minaj.
Did Joy Reid really write those blog posts and tweets? pic.twitter.com/R0qoNIqhQL
— Cernovich (@Cernovich) September 14, 2021
But it wasn’t just Reid that she went after, she also blasted one of the editors of the Huffington Post.
You have been tweeting about me for an hour. You not #Tide yet? Mad I’m my own person? Mad the internet can’t scare me away? It’s always someone who looks like you. Polls are very much a part of research. Real experiences, Open dialogue, etc. Go put on your red nose clown tingz. https://t.co/orBJREaCv6
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 13, 2021
And she shared misleading headlines.
3 lies in a row from huge news platforms. I cited my young child as why I didn’t want to travel. But notice how NONE of them mentioned that? Ask yourself why that was. pic.twitter.com/vQjorbKCCO
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 14, 2021
? Pls show me where I said I’m “worried about” anything. Yes. I’m glad you guys get to see how the media REALLY works. I’ll have them contacted along with others. ?♥️? https://t.co/NKdJkQpswt
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 14, 2021
But even though Twitter took no action, it looks like Minaj might’ve gotten in trouble with her cousin’s friend…
Omfg. My #cousin who has #TheFriend just texted me telling me to call him. *Bites Nails* Ugh! You idiots!!! If he saw this on the news it’s all your fault!!! It was supposed to be a secret ???.
If either of them ask, u ain’t heard it from me. Okay?
*stares @ text

Oh well, at least she’s sticking to her guns and blasting the media for fake news.
