The Biden-Harris administration wants to take credit for this rescue because it’s pretty clear that they screwed up big-time in the withdrawal.
A group of military veterans worked tirelessly for two weeks to rescue an American woman and her three children trapped in Afghanistan after Biden’s bungled pull-out left thousands stranded as the Taliban seized control of the country.
Army combat veteran, Cory Mills, and a team of other military vets led the effort to get Miriam and her three children out of Afghanistan using private donor funds from organizations like the Sentinel Foundation.
After Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) alerted Mills and his team of Miriam’s situation, they worked for weeks to get her and her children out of the country.
Initially, they tried to get her out on one of the last government evacuation flights from Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) in Kabul, but Miriam was unable to get past the Taliban checkpoints.
The State Department was urging Americans to go to HKIA to get on the planes before the evacuation operation was complete. Fox News reports that Miriam after her repeated attempts to flee, the Taliban took notice of her and it became urgent that she get out of the country.
The final time Mariam tried to enter the airport, a Taliban fighter pointed a pistol at her head and warned her not to come back. Shortly after that, Taliban fighters asked Kabul locals who knew Mariam how they could find her. Mills’ team rushed to get her and the children out of the city and into a safehouse.
Plan B was to get Mariam and her family aboard a private charter flight from Mazar-i-Sharif airport, but the planes were never cleared to take off. Some private evacuation organizers have blamed the State Department for failing to gain clearance for private charter flights to land in third countries, while Republican Texas Rep. Michael McCaul has blamed the Taliban for the planes remaining grounded.
Private rescue operations have said that the U.S. State Department under the Biden-Harris administration has been making evacuation difficult.
The reports of the State Department blocking private rescue flights in Afghanistan are reprehensible but not surprising if you’ve been paying attention. The Biden administration’s focus has been all 1) excuses and 2) politics—not solutions. It’s why we’re in this situation now.

It’s a weird thing to do for a government that demands props over the “historic” evacuation.
- WTF? Biden-Harris White House Wants Kudos From Media For The Handling Of Afghanistan Pull-Out
- ‘Historic’ Evacuation Leaves Behind Afghan Translator Who Helped Rescue Sen. Biden In 2008
- Even CNN Blasted Biden For Leaving Americans Stranded … But There’s MORE To That Failure
After all the attempts to fly Miriam and her children out were blocked, the last hope was to go overland and cross into another country. The name of the country is being withheld to protect future evacuation operations.
The Fox News article states that Mills compared the multiple attempts and “sleight of hand” tactics used to a shell game, but Mariam’s family “finally crossed the border on Monday – just before the Taliban closed the checkpoint to prevent Americans from escaping.”
After 2 weeks & multiple life threatening attempts, I am overjoyed to share that 4 U.S. citizens from #TX13 were part of the first successful ground evacuation since the U.S. left Kabul. Thank you to Cory Mills & the other patriots on his team for saving these BRAVE Americans! pic.twitter.com/1Tv9KRUgcE

Now, the Biden-Harris State Department wants to claim credit for the daring rescue.
On Monday, the State Department tried to claim credit for the daring rescue. Fox News reported that the State Department announced that the “U.S. has facilitated the safe departure of four US citizens by overland route from Afghanistan. Embassy staff was present upon their arrival.”
Mills and his team are calling this utter B.S.
The State Department’s public posture about Mariam’s rescue is “absolute nonsense,” Mills told Fox News in an exclusive interview Monday. “The fact that they’re spinning this, trying to take 100% credit when they didn’t track this family, when they placated this family, when the mother, who was under extreme stress and extreme pressure, reached out to the State Department multiple times and got no help.”
A State Department spokesperson, when asked whether the agency is overselling its role in Mariam’s rescue, told Fox News in an email: “The Department assisted four Americans depart Afghanistan via an overland route on Monday. We provided guidance to them, worked to facilitate their safe passage, and Embassy officials greeted the Americans once they had crossed the border.”
But Mills and others with knowledge of the operation say the State Department is exaggerating its role and had little to do with the rescue mission until the most dangerous part – getting Mariam and her children across the border – was completed.
“This is an attempt to save face by the administration for the Americans they left behind. This is a woman with three children from age 15 all the way down to two-years-old. And they did nothing to try to expedite this… But at the very last minute you have these ‘senior officials’ at the State Department trying to claim credit for this like ‘oh yeah look what we’ve done,'” Mills said.
“It’s like we carried the ball to the 99-and-a-half yard line and them taking it that last half yard and being like ‘look what we did.’”

This is a flat out lie. The Biden Administration abandoned them. Let’s be clear, it was our team of patriots who worked around the clock for two weeks to get them out, despite the many roadblocks from the State Department. https://t.co/75lA8jOLHO

There have been multiple reports that the State Department has been making things extremely difficult for private organizations attempting to rescue the people that the Biden-Harris administration’s rushed withdrawal left abandoned.
Glenn Beck has said that the rescue effort that he was involved with had faced roadblocks by the U.S. State Department.
Here he is discussing that on Newsmax:
.@glennbeck: “The State Department and the White House are the biggest threat – on the same scale, I believe, as the Taliban. The Taliban won’t let you get through the gates but neither would the State Department.” @SeanSpicer. @LyndsayMKeith. pic.twitter.com/ZsYDOciDx1

It’s absolutely shameful that the State Department wants credit for private rescue operations that wouldn’t have been necessary if the withdrawal had been handled better.
But this is what the Biden-Harris administration is — blameshifting and stealing credit.
It looks like America lost that “battle for the soul of the nation.” Under President Biden, America has lost its soul.
