Another Shooting Spree As Portland Discovers What Reduced Police Presence REALLY Looks Like

Be careful what you ask for, leftists. You just might get it.

The left coast has been particularly aggressive in embracing the most radical of ‘woke’ policies. This includes the radical aversion to police presence.

They have refused to seriously enforce laws that Antifa or other similar ‘black block’ political rioters have broken with respect to rioting and looting, with many repeat offenders being routinely booked and released again.

Now, Portland residents are waking up to the fact that ideas, like elections, have consequences. When your city embraces a culture of lawlessness, criminals will become emboldened to be — you guessed it — lawless.

The city has embraced violence as a political means to an end.

Now, this city of 662,549 is seeing some alarming news reporting. Including stories about shootings.

For example…

Portland Police Bureau said officers responded to 19 shootings between Friday and Sunday morning.

The first of those shootings occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. Friday at Northeast 162nd and Northeast Halsey Street. Officers received a report of a man firing a handgun. They took 18-year-old, Nathan Isenberg, into custody.

The last of those 19 shootings was Sunday at 6:30 a.m. Police said there was a double murder in an apartment complex near the corner of Northwest 6th Avenue and Everett Street. — KOIN

This weekend officially brings Portland’s murder rate into record-breaking territory. Ten days ago, Newsweek was already sounding this alarm…

In recent years, Portland has seen a spike in gun violence. In 2019, throughout the entire year, the city documented 388 shooting incidents, according to police statistics. The number of shootings jumped sharply in 2020, up to 891.

The city is also on the verge of breaking its record for the highest number of homicides in one year: 70. According to the Oregonian, that record was set in 1987. There have been 69 homicides in the city this year, the newspaper notes. –Newsweek

Even if the double-homicide Portland saw on Sunday was the very last homicide of the year… with the next two months being entirely murder-free, they have already surpassed the highest number of yearly murders in the city’s history.

Portland is not the only place where this ‘defund the police’ trend is playing out exactly as conservatives had warned it would during those BLM riots of 2020. Ilhan Omar is lamenting exactly the same problem playing out in Minneapolis.

Of course, Dems like Ilhan Omar can’t handle the truth about their own failed approach of reducing police presence. They are looking for scapgoats to blame for the crime spree. Who is she blaming? The police. Naturally.

“The police have chosen to not fulfill their oath of office and to provide the public safety they are owed to the citizens they serve,” she said. “The Minneapolis Police Department is the most dysfunctional police department in our state and probably in the country.”

“She called the police dysfunctional, but as far as I can tell, none of them married their brother,” “The Five” co-host Greg Gutfeld quipped. “She’s exactly the kind of leftist that you would design in a lab to subvert the American system. And the Democrats look like they’re helpless bystanders shouting, ‘You go, girl!’” —FoxNews

They keep learning the wrong lessons. What’s the only thing that will get their attention? It will take the only kind of message that they are capable of hearing. The kind of message America gave the Democrats in the 1984 election where 49 of 50 states voted Republican… after which Democrats were forced to abandon hard left politics for a generation if they had any hope of being elected.
