I’m Tired…

I have a lot of patience but as we enter year three of this self-imposed ordeal known as COVID, even I have my limits.  Like many Americans, I’m weary of the rhetoric, the hype, the misinformation, and the tyranny.  I started to compile a list of things I’m tired of, just to see if these align with your feelings.  So here is the list of things I’m tired of:

  • A lack of consistency in my life. I feel that the rules change every day, be it with this “spicy flu” or with how the world works.
  • The word “mandate.”
  • Lockdowns and shutdowns.
  • Labeling groups or individuals and assigning traits to them. This ranks right up there with the misuse of the word “racist.”
  • People blaming COVID for everything. It is an overused excuse.
  • My grocery store looking like its 1985 Russian counterpart with bare shelves and long lines.
  • People glaring at me when I don’t wear a mask. I did my time people, I’ve got the shots, get over it.
  • Talk of showing my vaccine card to do everyday things.
  • Individuals who say we need to get used to the “new normal.” Excuse me, but I will make the call as what “normal” I want to live in, and it’s not your “new normal.”
  • People wearing masks, alone, in their cars. If you’re that afraid, stay home.
  • Big Tech censorship. Facebook, you literally took down my post of the infamous Guy Fawkes poem, on Guy Fawkes Day, because it — and I quote — “inspired extremism.” Thank you for making my case for me.
  • Panic buying.
  • The mainstream media hiding footage of the long litany of Biden misquotes and verbal stumbles.
  • Medical “experts” that contradict everything and create a fog of distrust.
  • The use of the word “‘insurrection” to describe the events of January 6. To quote The Princess Bride, “You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.”
  • No one being bothered that the government keeps track of who they think is ‘non-essential.’
  • People tearing down statues in the name of tolerance.
  • Restaurants being drive-thru or delivery only…sometimes on the fly.
  • Everyone wanting to hire people but record numbers on unemployment.
  • Experiencing inflation levels I haven’t seen since the 70’s and the government telling me that it isn’t that bad.
  • Not being able to plan a vacation because you don’t know what the rules will be by the time you go.
  • The teacher’s unions and their holier-than-thou attitudes that somehow teachers are more at risk than the checkout people at Walmart. We all get it, you want to work at home. Sorry, your job is in the classroom.
  • Groups threatening to riot if they don’t get their way.
  • Late-night talk shows that have ceased to be funny and are little more than platforms for demonizing half of the country.
  • The “Let them eat cake,” mentality of politicians that inflict rules on the population, then flagrantly break those rules or travel to a state where those rules are not in effect.
  • People who honestly believe that parents should not get involved with what their kids are being taught. Thank you Terry McAuliffe for making the blunder of speaking exactly what you and your party believe.
  • The CDC’s ever-changing series of guidelines that no longer have meaning.
  • People whining about voting rights. No one who was legally entitled to vote was not allowed to in the last election so let it go.
  • People attempting to rewrite history to fit their own narrative.
  • The military focusing on rooting out “extremists” i.e. conservatives, when they should be preparing to defend Taiwan and other places around the globe.
  • The stock market reacting the exact opposite of the way it should on any given day. Methinks a bubble is brewing…
  • Diversity and Inclusiveness in companies. If you want quotas, why don’t you just say that? We don’t need the window dressing.
  • People who turn to The View and believe it is fair and balanced.
  • Anyone who says there is no woke movement or cancel culture. I don’t know what you are drinking but I would like a double.
  • No one being held accountable for the debacle in Afghanistan.
  • The FBI being a weaponized tool of the left.
  • Any fool that claims inflation is a good thing.
  • Anyone saying that Climate Change is a risk to national security. I don’t think Putin is going to take a stroll into the Ukraine because it’s too cold in mother Russia.
  • Individuals who think Critical Race Theory is a good thing.
  • People who are willing to sacrifice my individual freedoms so that they can feel less afraid.
  • Blaming Trump. There’s a point when you have to assume some responsibility all on your own Joe.  We passed that point six months ago.
