Putin claimed that Ukraine is historically part of Russia and recognized the separatist regions Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states.

In a speech on Monday, Putin appeared to make the argument that Ukraine’s current government is illegitimate and is essentially being run by the U.S. through the Embassy in Kiev and other NATO allies.

“I will start with the fact that modern Ukraine was entirely created by Russia or, to be more precise, by Bolshevik, Communist Russia,” Putin said in a speech Monday that was translated into English by the Kremlin.

Putin took aim at the current government for trying to distance itself from its historically Russian and Soviet past, arguing to do so would have consequences.

“You want decommunization? Well, decommunization suits us very well,” Putin said. “Let us show you what real decommunization means for Ukraine.

“For some reason, Khrushchev gave Ukraine separate status,” Putin said. “Why did we have to be so generous and then give these Republics the right to leave? Madness!”

Putin signed a decree recognizing the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic in Eastern Ukraine as independent and sovereign.

The move was immediately condemned by the international community.

Germany has made the tough move to halt the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in the wake of Putin’s actions on Monday.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz put the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany on ice, a measure widely considered the toughest Europe is likely to take against Moscow at this stage.

“We must reassess the situation, in particular regarding Nord Stream 2,” Scholz told a news conference with the Irish leader in Berlin. The pipe, built to bring gas from Russia to Germany via the Baltic Sea, has been completed but has yet to win regulatory approval.

A statement issued by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki stated that the White House had “anticipated a move like this from Russia” and said that they were “ready to respond immediately.”

“President Biden will soon issue an Executive Order that will prohibit new investment, trade, and financing by U.S. persons to, from, or in the so-called DNR and LNR regions of Ukraine,” said Psaki.

“This E.O. will also provide authority to impose sanctions on any person determined to operate in those areas of Ukraine. The Departments of State and Treasury will have additional details shortly,” She said.

She added that additional measures will be announced soon.

“To be clear: these measures are separate from and would be in addition to the swift and severe economic measures we have been preparing in coordination with Allies and partners should Russia further invade Ukraine,” Psaki concluded.

Let’s not forget that one of the first things that Biden did was greenlight the Nord Stream 2 pipeline between Russia and Germany and nix the Keystone XL pipeline between the U.S. and Canada.

Senate Democrats even used the Very Racist Filibuster in January to block a bill introduced by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) that would impose sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

Biden talks pretty tough about standing up to Putin, but it was while he was Vice President that Russia took Crimea, and now that he’s President, Russia is officially recognizing two separatist factions in what the Biden-Harris Administration is now warning could be the precursor to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Putin didn’t pull this kind of crap when Trump was in office, despite the constant bleating from the left that Trump was some sort of covert Russian puppet in the White House.

Someone should ask Stephen Colbert if he stands by that lewd comment about Trump’s relationship with Putin or if it’s perhaps more apropos for the current president who appears to be giving Putin exactly what he wants — including a completely inept administration in Washington.

This video from Biden’s Presidential run looks even more ridiculous now than it did back in 2019:

Last month, Biden seemed to be dismissive about Russia making a “minor incursion” into Ukraine.

If Biden is taking the threat of the situation in Ukraine seriously, then why did he send the incomprehensibly incompetent Vice President over there?

She can’t open her mouth without saying something incredibly stupid.

Check out this gem from Monday.

What the hell is she talking about?!

There have been multiple wars in Europe in the past 70 years.

Does anyone remember Kosovo? Bosnia? What about several wars in Yugoslavia? The Chechen wars? Georgia? Armenia? What about the Guerilla War in the Baltic States? Does anyone remember any of those? The Vice President apparently doesn’t.

And as for “peace and security” does she not remember the 36 years of violence by the IRA?

Jerry Dunleavy of the Washington Examiner took her to task for the claim that it’s been over 70 years of “peace and security” in Europe.

It didn’t have to be this way.

If the Biden-Harris Administration had stopped Nord Stream 2 months ago, the West would’ve had leverage to hold over Putin. But the current President decided it was better to undo every policy that had Trump’s fingerprints on it.

It was spite. And how’s that working out for the world?

Not so great, eh?
