The Biden-Harris admin hasn’t been clear on whether they’ll appeal a ruling that ended the federal transportation mask mandate after the President and top officials made conflicting statements on Tuesday.

On Monday, the announcement that mask mandates had been lifted on air travel left passengers joyful.

ClashDaily covered that ruling here:

Videos of airline passengers taking off their masks and cheering as the announcement was made mid-flight were all over social media.

And then Tuesday came.

The Biden-Harris administration couldn’t have air travel not be the suffocating hell that it is with the ridiculous forced masking. It’s absolutely ridiculous since passengers can remove their masks while eating or drinking.

It’s clear that the Fauci-worshipping administration had no idea how to react to the ruling that was instantly popular with everyone but ran against the 24/7 COVID fear porn they’ve been peddling with the Regime Media’s assistance.

Within 3 hours, the administration had said three different things.

At 1 pm, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki advised travelers to continue wearing masks on airplanes; an hour later when asked if he thought that passengers should continue masking up, Joe Bidens replied that “it’s up to them”; and an hour or so after that Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said that the administration would likely appeal the decision that struck down the mandate.

Reuters reports:

U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration on Tuesday said it would appeal a judge’s ruling ending a mask mandate on airplanes if public health officials deem it necessary, hours after Biden answered a question about whether travelers should keep masking on planes by saying “it’s up to them.”

Biden’s statement was at odds with his administration’s official guidance.

The Justice Department said it would appeal a Monday ruling by U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle that the 14-month-old directive was unlawful, if the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention determined the mandate was needed to protect public health.

Now we have HHS and the DOJ indicating that the administration will appeal the court’s ruling to reinstate the nonsensical mask mandate.

It seems that it’s President Biden that is out of the loop with his own administration. Maybe he forgot to read the staff-prepared cards telling him what to say to reporters.

When asked for confirmation that the administration will indeed appeal the decision, Biden said he doesn’t know because he has to wait to be told what to do by the CDC. That’s quite a flip from his earlier statement that wearing a mask is now a choice for the individual.

So now it appears that the White House, HHS, and the DOJ are beholden to the CDC.

What the hell?!

Over the past couple of years, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has been able to wield a whole lot of power over our everyday lives.

They were able to suspend individual contracts that left landlords on the hook for costs incurred while tenants couldn’t be evicted.

As for the border, it’s an order from the CDC that is ending Title 42 because the spread of SARS-CoV-2 by migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border “ceased to be a serious danger to the public health” wrote Director Rochelle Walensky.

So illegal economic migrants can still flood in via the southern border because the spread of illness isn’t a danger to public health but Americans have to wear the stupid masks on planes because COVID is still a danger to public health.

Make up your mind, CDC!

When exactly did the CDC become the most powerful entity within the federal government with the ability to dictate policy to the Executive Branch and push back on judicial decisions? Especially when the ruling said that the mandate violated the Administrative Procedure Act because it was outside the CDC’s scope, was “arbitrary” and “capricious”, and didn’t follow the proper notice and comment period for federal legislation?

There is a great quote that is perfect for this particular form of government overreach by the late, great C.S. Lewis.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to heaven yet at the same time likely to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on the level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.

— C.S. Lewis, “God in the Dock: Essays On Theology and Ethics”

Dear Petty Tyrants currently in control in Washington — just let the damn mask mandate go already!

Check out Doug’s latest book, The Art of Joe: The Political Brilliance of President Biden. If you have left-leaning family members, workmates, or classmates, to buy several copies and place them in common areas. Make sure you have your video camera ready for when they pick it up and thumb through it because they will be triggered which will make for a great viral video to share across social media. Also, buy a couple for the GOP NeverTrumpers that you know. Finally, both the book’s cover and the epilogue, Notable Quotable Joe are worth the price of admission. We’ve included before and after Biden on Afghanistan. Jen Psaki will no likey this book, but you will. BTW, the book is 95% bereft of any content. Just like Biden’s head.
