On Wednesday, Dr. Fauci and several other members of the public health apparatus testified before the House Appropriations Committee regarding the 2023 NIH Budget.
“Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases (NIAID) was among those testifying. On the COVID-19 pandemic, he said currently it is not the time to remove the public health emergency status,” states C-SPAN in the caption.
Rep. John Moolenaar (R-MI) asked Fauci when the “current health emergency” would no longer be called a pandemic and what criteria were required to make that determination. The Prevaricating Authoritarian Smurf answered just as you’d expect — not now and the definition of “pandemic emergency” is rather squishy.
REP. MOOLENAAR: Thank you, Madam Chair. Dr. Fauci, I wanted to ask [for] your insights on when we will no longer call the current COVID public health emergency a pandemic? Are there criteria? Are there benchmarks? What kind of a process will we go through to make that determination?
FAUCI: No, there is no firm, widely acceptable [sic] definition. When one talks about [a] pandemic, you talk about a highly transmissible infection that is essentially widely distributed throughout the globe. I’ve spoken about this recently. When you’re in the acute fomenting stage of the pandemic the way we were in the United States just a few months ago. You might remember, [that] we had nine hundred thousand cases a day, tens of thousands of hospitalizations, and we were averaging three thousand deaths a day. That’s a really highly fomented stage of a pandemic. We’ve come down to a low level, unfortunately, we’re ticking up a bit. But when you get down to a level where it isn’t disrupting society, it isn’t causing deaths that stress your hospital system, and you have a level of infection that, for example, might be comparable with what you see in respiratory syncytial virus or parainfluenza, even though it’s prevalent throughout, it wouldn’t be considered a “pandemic” in the classic sense. But there’s a lot of gray zone about the definition. So, I don’t think you’re gonna see, all of a sudden one day, that there’s gonna be a declaration that the pandemic is over. It will likely be that it is no longer in the “pandemic phase” and it’s more of an endemic kind of infection that you could live with. Right now, we’re not there. I mean, if anybody asks that question, that’s for sure.
REP. MOOLENAAR: And then, from the public health emergency and the legal definitions in states and throughout the country, where do we stand with that given the — sort of the open-ended nature of that?
FAUCI: Yeah. I’m not sure I can answer that with any authority, Congressman, because that’s not, essentially, what we do here at the NIH. But there will be a time, obviously, when an examination of the level of infection and the level of impact in the country will then dictate whether or not it’s pulled back as an emergency, but I don’t think I can be able to give you a good answer on that.

Most people are carrying on with their lives but if it were up to the “public health experts” — we’d probably still be in lockdown. Unless it’s for a protest on “racial justice” or something, then it’s fine. Just don’t go to church.
And they wonder why trust in public health is down significantly.
These people that keep telling us to “follow the science” don’t seem to realize that we know what they’re saying now doesn’t “follow the science.”
Maybe a better thing to do is “follow the money” and see who benefits from the constant fearmongering which causes stress — and isn’t good for your health. You’d think public health “experts” would understand that.
