Glenn Greenwald Mini-Documentary Calls Nicolle Wallace The ‘Typhoid Mary Of Disinformation’

Could you have ever imagined in 2005 that this is where Wallace and Greenwald would be in 2022?

Back in 2005, Nicolle Wallace was the White House Communications Director for the George W. Bush Administration, and Glenn Greenwald was an unapologetically left-wing lawyer focussed on First Amendment issues and had just began his blog that was critical of U.S. foreign policy and was an early voice sounding the alarm about the threat to civil liberties in the response to 9/11.

In 2022, Wallace is beloved by leftists because of her MSNBC show, and Glenn Greenwald has become a regular guest on the most popular political commentary show on Fox News.

What a difference a few years makes.

Wallace appears to have made some drastic changes in her political ideology as she went from the Dubya Administration to the McCain campaign to co-host on “The View” to NBC News and finally, hosting her own show on MSNBC, while Greenwald has arguably stayed rather consistent. His blog landed him articles in “Salon” and “The Guardian” and eventually led to a Pulitzer for publishing the leaked intel by Edward Snowden. Greenwald, now a popular independent journalist, continues to be critical of U.S. foreign policy and the encroachment on civil liberties — especially freedom of speech.

In a Twitter thread on Thursday, Greenwald teased a mini-documentary he produced that will be limited to his Substack subscribers. He calls Nicolle Wallace the “Typhoid Mary of Disinformation.”

“From her days as a professional liar for the Bush/Cheney WH and campaign, now as a beloved-by-liberals MSNBC host, @NicolleDWallace has for two decades been the Typhoid Mary of Disinformation. Nobody spreads it more,” tweeted Greenwald along with the trailer.

In his Substack article highlighting the mini-doc, Greenwald writes, “lurking beneath her perky smile, multi-million-dollar media contracts, gushing liberal fan base and a long list of media admirers is something extremely dark and pernicious. In a swamp of professional liars and sleaze merchants, Nicolle Wallace has distinguished herself easily as one of the most seamless and casual liars in the world of Washington politics and media.”

Greenwald singled out Wallace as the most blatant purveyor of disinformation, but he pointed out that a number of Bush/Cheney alumni found lucrative careers in the lib-dominated media after leaving the White House.

According to Greenwald, that includes:

• Former Bush White House speechwriter David Frum of The Atlantic and CNN;
• Bush/Cheney CIA and NSA Director Gen. Michael Hayden of CNN;
• Ubiquitous amoral neocon warmonger Bill Kristol of MSNBC and various #NeverTrump groups;
• Al-Qaeda/Saddam conspiracy theorist Jeffrey Goldberg, now editor-in-chief of The Atlantic;
• The various scumbags, con artists, predator-protectors and fraudsters of the Lincoln Project, drowning in #Resistance cash and frequent MSNBC appearances;
• Pro-war Florida GOP Congressman Joe Scarborough, now a multi-million host of MSNBC’s flagship morning show and anchor of its corporate brand; and,
• Rep. Liz Cheney, long-time vocal supporter of her father and now a literal “hero” to American media liberals.

Greenwald noted that Wallace began to position herself as a Lib after she saw the media fawning over Obama. In 2010, she claimed that she didn’t even vote for McCain because of her misgivings about Sarah Palin. Greenwald also notes that while she still collecting a paycheck, Wallace was “repeatedly sabotaging the McCain campaign” by leaking negative stories about McCain and Palin.

“She was the vintage conservative who liberals could love — a smiling sophisticate, someone willing to betray her GOP employers to impress liberal journalists, an amicable young woman touting degrees from the types of schools that impress coastal media elites — and it was virtually inevitable that she would thrive within media corporations that need women who can credibly claim to be conservatives yet appeal to liberal sensibilities and flatter liberal audiences,” writes Greenwald.

He says that the documentary “demonstrates the key point about this new discourse about ‘disinformation.’ Those who most flamboyantly warn of the dangers of disinformation and seek to censor the internet in the name of fighting it are, (through such tactics as the defunct-for-now Homeland Security Disinformation Board) in fact, the most aggressive and destructive purveyors of disinformation in the world.”
