She is the living embodiment of everything the soulless Democrat political machine fears most. Her very presence holds a mirror up to their indefensible lies.
She was never supposed to be elected. She ran as a Republican in a seat held by Democrats going back a century or more.
She’s from a riding that’s 85% hispanic. But somehow, Mayra Flores — now REP Mayra Flores — beat those odds. ClashDaily has previously covered her election story.
But now she’s been sworn in… and right from her opening remarks after being sworn in, she’s on fire!
Here is what she said after being sworn in:
She talks about her origins in Mexico and her own family’s admiration for America. She covers her own history of legal immigration, and how she has lived the American dream.
She once picked cotton in the fields, but now she represents the community she loves as a voice for that community.
She makes explicit reference to her family’s faith, faith the left is becoming increasingly hostile to.
She speaks of her husband working as a border agent, and her focus on safety, security, and the fact that politics is more than just a game.
She went right to work. There has been debate in the House about whether to keep Title 42 going. Not surprisingly, she has something to say on that topic.
How she used those 5 minutes is worth watching.
She invokes her first-hand experience, as a citizen near the border, as a wife, and as a mother, and highlights a border that’s out of control in a crisis. The drug trade. The fentanyl. The record number of terror suspects that were apprehended.
She calls out the nearly quarter-million people flooding over the border in a single month — a new record — and that’s just the ones we know about.
But she put the issue in the context of more than just laws being broken, she put in the context of hearts being broken (speaking the emotional language Democrats had cornered the market in) as well as the devastation the crisis has had on individual lives.
She calls out Biden by name and links Democrat open-border policy to the ruinous effects of drug, sex, and human trafficking.
Far from being against immigration, she wants to streamline the process for immigrants like her family, who do this the right way. But what’s happening on the border now cannot continue.
It’s not often we see people in Congress — or elsewhere in our culture — worth looking up to. It’s nice to see someone like her stepping up.
