LEFT AND LEFTER: New York Mayor And AOC Fight Over Future Direction Of The Party

Our ‘betters’ in the media never tire of telling us about conflict on the Republican side of the aisle. Far be it for them to admit that power struggles exist on their side, too.

For every NeverTrump Republican fighting for ‘strange new respect’ from the shamelessly partisan press, you could name a Democrat just as keen on hijacking their party and pulling it over a cliff on the left.

The few Dems — including Manchin and Sinema — with enough foresight to see that this road could lead them to the political wilderness for a generation have been trying to save the party from itself.

We’re now seeing this tug-of-war play out in — of all places — New York politics.

New York’s mayor and AOC are pulling the party in opposite directions.

They’re backing rival candidates in some New York races.

Mayor Adams is supporting Harlem incumbent Inez Dickens who is aligned with changes the Mayor wants to see in New York’s bail laws.

AOC is supporting the rival candidate, a housing activist, named Delsenia Glover.

Likewise, they are supporting rival candidates in the Bronx in a conflict that is pitting the Democratic socialists against the Establishment Democrats.

You will recall that when it still looked like Bernie had a shot at beating Biden, AOC went on record saying that ‘in any other country Joe Biden and I would not be in the same party’.

She has never been loyal to the Democrat machine. She bared her teeth from the beginning and was determined to drag it, kicking and screaming, in the direction she demanded that party would go. And anyone not playing ball with her agenda could expect to be primaried by someone far further left, with her endorsement.

This story was from Feb, 2020: AOC’s BIG Announcement — Launching A Rebel Group To Primary Moderate Dems

Political sources said Adams and AOC are engaged in a proxy war over who controls the state Legislature and New York City government — mainstream Democrats or socialists.

“Mayor Adams is laser-focused on public safety and he’s supporting like-minded mainstream Democrats who support his agenda. He’s making it clear where he stands,” said consultant Jonathan Reinish, a former staffer to US Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand. —NYPost

After a couple of paragraphs in which Adams endorses Dickens at an event, and she graciously responds, the story continues:

The assemblywoman later told The Post that the upcoming primaries are indeed a political war pitting Adams and Democrats against AOC and the socialists.

“Mayor Adams said from the very beginning that he’s not a socialist. He’s a Democrat,” Dickens said.

“We are Democrats! We are not socialists!,” Dickens said emphatically. “AOC and the socialists are trying to take over New York.”

The AOC-backed challenge to Dickens, 72, is not an idle threat. Democratic socialist Kristin Richardson last year was elected to the City Council representing Harlem.–NYPost

How do we feel about the conflict between Dem factions going nuclear?

We feel like we’re gonna need to make some more popcorn.

Psalms of War: Prayers That Literally Kick Ass is a collection, from the book of Psalms, regarding how David rolled in prayer. I bet you haven’t heard these read, prayed, or sung in church against our formidable enemies — and therein lies the Church’s problem. We’re not using the spiritual weapons God gave us to waylay the powers of darkness. It might be time to dust them off and offer ‘em up if you’re truly concerned about the state of Christ’s Church and of our nation.

Also included in this book, Psalms of War, are reproductions of the author’s original art from his Biblical Badass Series of oil paintings.

This is a great gift for the prayer warriors. Real. Raw. Relevant.
