Will Democrat Privilege Allow Colbert Show Staffers To Skate On The Same Charges As Some Jan. 6 Protesters?

Trump supporters were held without bail — sometimes in solitary — and denied a speedy trial. Will they throw the book at Democrats, too? Eh, probably not.

A group of seven staffers from “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” were arrested by U.S. Capitol Police for allegedly illegally entering the U.S. House of Representatives office building on Thursday night.

Fox News had the exclusive report:

The group of seven people were arrested in the Longworth House Office Building after being escorted out of the Jan. 6 committee hearing earlier in the day because they did not have proper press credentials, according to sources.

The same group resurfaced later on Thursday night after the Capitol complex was closed to public visitors and Fox News is told that they took videos and pictures around the offices of two Republican members of Congress, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy R-Calif. and Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo.

A senior source in the U.S House of Representatives told Fox News that seven individuals associated with Stephen Colbert’s show were arrested.

The group was unescorted and charged with illegal entry to House office buildings after hours.

Fox News correspondent Chad Pergram posted a lengthy thread on Twitter explaining the situation.

Probably none of them will be accused of trying to topple the government though, right?

The U.S. Capitol Police told Fox News in a statement that it received a call for a disturbance in the Longworth House Office Building at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday and said that additional charges could be filed.

“On June 16, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) received a call for a disturbance in the Longworth House Office Building. Responding officers observed seven individuals, unescorted and without Congressional ID, in a sixth-floor hallway. The building was closed to visitors, and these individuals were determined to be a part of a group that had been directed by the USCP to leave the building earlier in the day,” the statement says. “They were charged with Unlawful Entry. This is an active criminal investigation, and may result in additional criminal charges after consultation with the U.S. Attorney.”

But wait, there’s more!

Jonathan Turley, George Washington University Law School professor, said unlawful entry was the “same charge that has been levied against the vast majority of those arrested” in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

“If the crew thought it better to ask forgiveness rather than permission in remaining, it was a uniquely poor decision given the security rules after Jan. 6th,” Mr. Turley wrote on his blog. “This could put some of these members in an awkward position. It is difficult to downplay such security breaches after the January riot.”

He noted that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has “repeatedly attacked Republicans for not taking the new security precautions seriously and imposing hefty fines for failures to comply, including evading metal detectors.”

…[Rep. Rodney Davis, Illinois Republican] said the Colbert staffers were told to leave by Capitol Police after being flagged by credentialed reporters, but returned and were “offered a way back into the House office buildings by a staffer who worked for the other member of Congress,” apparently referring to Mr. Auchincloss.

“They were actually seen banging on the doors of people like [Republican] Kevin McCarthy’s office, Jim Jordan’s office,” said Mr. Davis. “What were they doing? Why were they there?” —WashintonExaminer

It is being claimed that Shiff’s staffers were involved in letting them into the Capitol. Schiff, who has been part of the Jan 6 kangaroo court, should know better.

Lady Justice wears a blindfold because there is supposed to be no difference in how the accused is treated under the law based on wealth, status, political affiliation or what powerful friends he might have.

But it’s been a while since our system resembled the high ideals embodied by Lady Justice, hasn’t it?

Psalms of War: Prayers That Literally Kick Ass is a collection, from the book of Psalms, regarding how David rolled in prayer. I bet you haven’t heard these read, prayed, or sung in church against our formidable enemies — and therein lies the Church’s problem. We’re not using the spiritual weapons God gave us to waylay the powers of darkness. It might be time to dust them off and offer ‘em up if you’re truly concerned about the state of Christ’s Church and of our nation.

Also included in this book, Psalms of War, are reproductions of the author’s original art from his Biblical Badass Series of oil paintings.

This is a great gift for the prayer warriors. Real. Raw. Relevant.
