While speaking to a small gathering at an open-air campaign stop, one disgruntled citizen used an improvised weapon to attack the former Prime Minister. The attack was fatal.
As you can see, this was a very informal stop on a public street.
The attacker, standing nearby, took his shot. Japan has very strict gun laws. The weapon used by the attacker has been described as homemade or improvised.
Notice the large cloud of smoke after the weapon is discharged, and the sound the weapon makes when firing.

The attacker has been identified as a former member of Japanese naval forces with some sort of a policy grievance against the former PM.
As you might expect, words of sympathy, outrage, grief, and disbelief poured in from leaders around the world.
The difference between Trump and Biden’s responses was breathtaking, especially since Biden supposedly ran on a ‘return to normalcy’ campaign and announced ‘America’s Back’ when he declared himself the winner.
Trump called the news of his death “really BAD NEWS FOR THE WORLD!”
“His killer was captured and will hopefully be dealt with swiftly and harshly,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. —TheHill

Biden’s public remarks offered the usual niceties. But then, he showed himself to the callous, unfeeling, explicitly political animal that he has always been. Not 12 hours after the man was dead, Joe found an angle to exploit politically.
“While there are many details that we do not yet know, we know that violent attacks are never acceptable and that gun violence always leaves a deep scar on the communities that are affected by it,” Biden said. “The United States stands with Japan in this moment of grief.” — FoxNews
Oh. Sure, Joe.
Let’s use this solemn moment to initiate a conversation about … gun policy.

They took a mulligan and tried again.
Considering their glowing eulogy of Castro’s leadership, this response by NPR is disgraceful, and this ‘non-partisan’ drain on public resources deserves to be defunded.
If they want to take a 3rd crack at it here’s how to offer gracious words in the aftermath of such a tragic event:
