Most pastors can wrap their heads around why it’s bad news for believers to date a pirate hooker or 10th degree horn dog… but too many get a blank thousand-yard stare when the conversation changes to politics.
Does that mean Jesus might actually give a flibertygibbet about how Christians exercise our right to self-government? Why yes, Dinky, that’s exactly what that means.
It’s one thing to be offended by the current state of cruddy culture. But what, I said what, has the typical believer done to turn that ship of state around?
Or has it not occurred to us yet that — in a democratic republic, anyway — righteous voting can play an key role in HOW God chooses to answer the prayer ‘THY WILL ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN’?
With so many Churches divided and torn between red and blue, how can I make such a bold declaration? It’s easy.
And here’s where I back it up:
Psalms of War: Prayers That Literally Kick Ass is a collection, from the book of Psalms, regarding how David rolled in prayer. I bet you haven’t heard these read, prayed, or sung in church against our formidable enemies — and therein lies the Church’s problem. We’re not using the spiritual weapons God gave us to waylay the powers of darkness. It might be time to dust them off and offer ‘em up if you’re truly concerned about the state of Christ’s Church and of our nation.
Also included in this book, Psalms of War, are reproductions of the author’s original art from his Biblical Badass Series of oil paintings.
This is a great gift for the prayer warriors. Real. Raw. Relevant.
