U-TURN: Biden Admin Grants Immunity To Saudi Crown Prince From Lawsuit Over Role In Khashoggi Murder

This is a dramatic departure from the President’s previous statements about the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi — including that he wanted to make Saudi Arabia a “pariah state.”

Here is Joe Biden on a debate stage in 2020 before he became the Democratic nominee saying just that.

That was then.

This is now according to the Associated Press on Friday:

The Biden administration declared Thursday that Saudi Arabia’s crown prince should be considered immune from a lawsuit over his role in the killing of a U.S.-based journalist, a turnaround from Joe Biden’s passionate campaign trail denunciations of Prince Mohammed bin Salman over the brutal slaying.
The administration said the senior position of the crown prince, Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler and recently named prime minister as well, should shield him against a suit brought by the fiancée of slain Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi and by the rights group Khashoggi founded, Democracy for the Arab World Now.
The request is non-binding and a judge will ultimately decide whether to grant immunity.

The State Department has said that the decision to shield Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) is “purely a legal determination” and that it was following longstanding precedent. The State Department added that it “takes no view on the merits of the present suit and reiterates its unequivocal condemnation of the heinous murder of Jamal Khashoggi.”

Jamal Khashoggi’s fiancée, Hatice Cengiz, doesn’t see it that way.

After the journalist’s horrific 2018 murder — Khashoggi was killed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and then his body was chopped up with a bone saw — Cengiz filed a lawsuit against Crown Prince bin Salman and 28 others in late 2020 as speculation grew about MBS’s involvement. The lawsuit alleges that the Crown Prince and the co-defendants are responsible for the murder of Khashoggi on October 2, 2018.

Since the announcement, Cengiz has been tweeting about the decision rather bluntly.

The move by the Biden administration is quite a departure from Biden’s tough language about justice, press freedom, and making Saudi Arabia a “pariah state.”

During that Democratic debate, Biden had some pretty harsh things to say about Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Once Biden became President and immediately made moves to stifle domestic energy production which made gas prices soar, things had clearly changed and he painted himself into a corner with the Green Lobby and had to beg for oil from other nations, one of which was Saudi Arabia.

Of course, he lied about that being the reason for heading to the Middle East, but, in true Joe Biden fashion, he also didn’t seem to know what was what.

Maybe he should’ve checked his cards before answering questions.

Biden tried to downplay his meeting with MBS after talking tough about the Saudis killing Khashoggi.

“American interests” in this case means “beg for oil.”

Here is Biden after the meeting with MBS telling the Press that although the Crown Prince denied involvement in Khashoggi’s murder, Biden said he told him that he didn’t believe him…

…but we all know that Joe Biden isn’t exactly the poster boy for honesty — especially when he’s talking about what was said in meetings with world leaders. Biden always makes himself look like the tough guy even though we can all clearly see that he exudes weakness as a world leader.

Here is how a French media outlet reported the Biden visit.

As an aside, isn’t it fascinating that to the Green Zealots, it’s just fine for the environment if Saudi Arabia drills for oil, but not if America does? Weird.

The Biden administration’s inept governance and massive spending has triggered record inflation which is being exacerbated by high gas prices caused by… the Climate Cultists in the Biden administration. These are all because of policy decisions.

Now that the midterms are over and the Strategic Petroleum Reserve has been gutted in a blatant and disgusting attempt at manipulating the economic conditions ahead of a consequential election, gas prices look like they’re going up again right before the holidays.

The Daily Mail reports:

Americans could be facing the highest gas prices ever for the Thanksgiving holiday travel season, as millions prepare to hit the road amid still sky high prices and inflation.
The national average price for a gallon of gas is projected to hit $3.68 next Thursday, November 24 as Americans prepare for the feast.
That number is 30 cents higher than the same time in 2021 and over 20 cents higher than the previous record of $3.44 per gallon in 2012…
…The news comes as Americans continue to battle inflation, with some cities and states are battling the ongoing crisis in the US better than others, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
October statistics – the most recent available – show inflation sitting at 7.7 percent. That’s down from the 40 year-high of 9.1 percent recorded in June, although it’s still causing crippling rises in the cost of living for many Americans.
Meanwhile, several experts told Bloomberg Thursday that they expect the inflation to last at least another year.

It’s not a big surprise that the Biden administration is trying to stay on Saudi Arabia’s good side.

He knows he’s screwed if he attempts to play hardball — which in this case would be holding a world leader accountable for what was most likely a state-backed murder of a journalist that the Saudis didn’t like.

It looks like the era of pushing “American values” on other nations is over when it comes to justice, at least.

Check out Doug’s latest book, The Art of Joe: The Political Brilliance of President Biden. If you have left-leaning family members, workmates, or classmates, buy several copies and place them in common areas. Make sure you have your video camera ready for when they pick it up and thumb through it because they will be triggered which will make for a great viral video to share across social media. Also, buy a couple for the GOP NeverTrumpers that you know. Finally, both the book’s cover and the epilogue, Notable Quotable Joe are worth the price of admission. We’ve included before and after Biden on Afghanistan. Jen Psaki will no likey this book, but you will. BTW, the book is 95% bereft of any content. Just like Biden’s head.
