HERO KID: Sent Home For Wearing Un-Woke Shirt… 12yo Gives School Board A Lesson On Rights

[Note: this article may contain commentary which reflects the opinions of the author.]

Even on the lips of a child, the truth can be a force that tyrants fear. How much more so when that truth becomes viral?

The American expression of freedom was constituted in such a way (pun intended) that it could never be lost all at once. Those who would subvert it understand that. So they take a different approach — eroding it a little at a time through an endless parade of petty acts of tyranny.

The kid in this story embodies exactly the kind of courage we had in mind when we rolled out our ‘Bold As Lions’ merch.

Sometimes it takes the courage of a child — like the hero in the story of the Emporer’s New Clothes who was unafraid to be called ‘unworthy of his station’ to tell the truth that others won’t.

The young lad you’ll see in this story caught the notice of the nation because he was sent home because he was wearing an ‘offensive’ shirt to school. The ‘offensive’ shirt he wore had the simple phrase: ‘There are only 2 genders.’

In the video below, you will see 12yo Liam stand in front of his School Committee meeting and take up the mantle of a challenge given by a Pulitzer Prize-winning survivor of the prison camps under both Hitler AND Stalin.

The challenge is contained in the title of the essay: ‘Live Not By Lies‘.

And therein we find, neglected by us, the simplest, the most accessible key to our liberation: a personal nonparticipation in lies! Even if all is covered by lies, even if all is under their rule, let us resist in the smallest way: Let their rule hold not through me!
And this is the way to break out of the imaginary encirclement of our inertness, the easiest way for us and the most devastating for the lies. For when people renounce lies, lies simply cease to exist. Like parasites, they can only survive when attached to a person.
We are not called upon to step out onto the square and shout out the truth, to say out loud what we think—this is scary, we are not ready. But let us at least refuse to say what we do not think!

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn wrote Live Not By Lies, the essay from which that quote was taken, on the day he was arrested in 1974. Today, people like Liam — who may never have heard of the man who wrote it — are showing the world how to do exactly that.

A 12-year-old boy from Massachusetts claimed he was sent home from school a few weeks ago for wearing a t-shirt that declared that there are “only two genders,” which he was told made other students feel “unsafe.”

Liam Morrison, a seventh grader at John T. Nichols Jr. Middle School in Middleborough, recounted the incident during a Middleborough School Committee meeting on April 13 — and his fiery speech went viral Sunday after being picked up by the popular right-wing Twitter account Libs of TikTok. — New York Post

Liam wrote out a two-minute speech. He did not raise his voice. He did not whine. He did not accuse or ‘politicize’ any issue. He did one thing only.

He reminded those in attendance that he respects the right of others to say what they believe, and that he, as a citizen, has the very same right to express his beliefs as they do.

While doing so, he challenged the adults in the room to name the ‘protected class’ whose theoretical feelings are so important that they overrule his rights.

His closing thoughts are devastating to the moralizing guardians of Biden’s hard-left agenda of pushing dogmatic adherence to gender nonconformity.

“I have learned a lot from this experience. I have learned that a lot of other students share my view. I learned that adults don’t always do the right thing or make the right decisions. I know that I have a right to wear a shirt with those five words. Even at 12 years old, I have my own political opinions and I have a right to express those opinions. Even at school. This right is called the First Amendment to the Constitution.

My hope in being here tonight is to bring the school committee’s attention to this issue. I hope that you will speak up for the rest of us so that we can express ourselves without being pulled out of class. Next time it may not only be me. There may be more students that decide to speak out.”

The consequences may not be as dire as when John the Baptist lost his head for denouncing the wrongdoing of Herod. But it’s the same flavor of courage.

Stirring up that kind of courage is the very reason this book was written:

John The Baptist: A Rude Awakening Precedes A Great Awakening.

This timely little tome chronicles the politically incorrect ministry of one of God’s most effective wildmen, John the Baptist, who prepared the way for Christ’s ministry.

The abrasive message of repentance John preached 2000 years ago is still confrontational and offensive today — but it is also life-changing.

In our putrid, worldly culture that has turned away from God, this book is a must-read for every Christian.

Available in paperback for those of you who like the feel of the pages in your hot, little hands, on Kindle to keep it right at your fingertips, and as an epic Audiobook.
