BIDEN’S BROKEN BORDER: Dem Governor Declares ‘State Of Emergency’ Over 20K Illegal Migrants

Blue “Sanctuary” states are now feeling a fraction of what border states have been enduring for years and they don’t seem to like it very much.

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, a Democrat, declared a State of Emergency on Tuesday and called on the federal government for funding assistance.

Gov. Healey’s declaration was made because of the roughly 20,000 illegal migrants that have arrived in the “Sanctuary State” who are now putting pressure on an already overburdened shelter system.

In her statement, she said that there was already a growing demand for shelter and social services and that the addition of migrants into the area is making the situation worse.

In her announcement at the State House, Healey said while the state has taken actions to try and meet the need, “we’re unable to move people from housing and shelter into permanent housing.”
She said as part of the declaration, she is asking the federal government to step in with funding and help with getting migrants access to work.
“This is a national issue that demands a national response,” Healey said.
“We’ve been expanding and continuing to look for housing and shelter opportunities, expanding shelter at a rapid pace. And it’s unsustainable,” she said. “We need action to remove barriers and expedite federal work authorizations. We need action and intervention for funding to help us in this time.”

The situation everywhere is only going to get worse — the latest U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data shows that after a dip over the summer, illegal crossings surged in July.

Gee, maybe every single Democrat Presidential hopeful in 2019 offering illegal migrants free healthcare was a bad idea.

Let that be a lesson to Democrats — incentives matter.

Gov. Healey also sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas pleading for “urgent” help with the issue.

In the letter, she says that the state is currently spending more than $45 million per month on shelter spaces and programs to help families, but it isn’t enough. She adds that the additional 5,500 migrant families including children and “pregnant people” that the state is being forced to care for are straining resources.

Gov. Healey doesn’t just blame the problem on migrants, however. She highlights three things exacerbating the problem and, like any good Democrat, implies that they could all be remedied by a simple increase in funding.

“This state of emergency arises from numerous factors, among them federal policies on immigration and work authorization, inadequate production of affordable housing over the last decade, and the end of COVID-era food and housing security programs. The need for action is urgent,” wrote Gov. Healey.

Here is her letter to Secretary Mayorkas.

Typical Lib — always suggesting the bandaid solution of “more funding” that won’t actually get to the heart of the problem.

As ClashDaily Readers know, the problem is that immigration rules at the border are not being enforced under this administration, and … post-pandemic “Bidenomics.”

While Vice President Kamala Harris goes to El Paso and tours Central America searching for the “root causes” of illegal migration, the simple solution is to just not let people cross illegally in the first place.

This was always the problem and the solution, but it’s suddenly become an issue because Blue states in the North are being affected.

Arizona and Texas have one thing to say…

But now we’re all supposed to feel sorry for New York, Massachusetts, and Illinois because they’re getting a few thousand migrants over the course of several months. Texas calls that an average Thursday.

Maybe if Democrat governors pressured the Biden administration to close the damn border and enforce existing immigration law instead of allowing more than 2 million people to abuse the asylum system and cross into the U.S. illegally in 2 years, then maybe this absurdity would end.

But that would require Democrats to want to improve the country and not just virtue signal how compassionate they are by allowing economic migrants, drug dealers, gang members, and who knows who else to jump the queue on the immigration system by falsely claiming asylum.

And we know that that’s not going to happen anytime soon … Democrats seem to like it this way.

They’ll just demand more money from the Feds to help “ease the burden” as they turn their states into third-world hellholes.
