Three Terrifying Examples of False Repentance

If counterfeit money is a big problem, how much more is a counterfeit gospel?

We understand there are faithful and false ways to present Christ’s message of redemption — but did you ever stop to think there could be a false way to respond to it, too?

Jesus is more than a ‘buddy’ you call up when you’ve got nothing better to do. He is the Living God.

To hear the pleas of some pencil-neck pastors presenting a paltry gospel, you might think Jesus is like the last kid in the line-up when middle school kids pick teams, or a guy on The Bachelor hoping he will be the one picked by the girl.

God is no beggar. He’s not some desperate salesman offering end-of-season products, slashing prices so that somebody — anybody — will take surplus inventory off of his hands rather than take a loss.

That’s a neutered view of God and His message that cannot be found ANYWHERE in the Bible.

What you WILL find is a God who calls for repentance as the good and most basic duty of any faithful citizen of his kingdom. If you habitually blow off His calls to repentance, you need to rethink your citizenship of His kingdom. You’re NOT on the solid ground you think you are.

And repentance isn’t just a card you can keep in your back pocket, either. You don’t get to prioritize other ‘more important’ things until a more opportune time to get right with God. If you believe there ARE more important things, you’re in more danger than you realize. That was the whole point of Jesus parable of the man who tore down barns to build bigger ones. (Luke 12:13-21)

Don’t think you can just make a decision some day in he unforseen future to stop stiff-arming and ‘pick him for your team’. It doesn’t work like that. We’ve got examples from scripture of chuckleheads who learned that lesson the hard way.

Lionhearted: Making Young Christian Males Rowdy Biblical Men

Dear young Christian male, this book you’re about to read is meant to challenge you to your very core. Its intent is not to make you feel warm and fuzzy. Some of the chapters will upset you greatly, especially if you’re a dandy who was raised with kid gloves by a helicopter mommy.

That said, in addition to the holy introspection contained herein, this book will also shoot adrenaline into your soul. It’ll push you to be a Godly risk taker and earth shaker. A veritable Rebel With A Cause just like the Captain of Our Salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ.

If you want a feel-good book that tickles your ears and morphs you into a little Christian popinjay, this tome ain’t for you. You should put this book down and walk away from it immediately. However, if, young man, if … your motto is to give God your utmost for His highest, and you wanna live a life worthy of Christ’s death, then this book will be grist for your mill.
