The Race Card. A method of accusing someone of being racist. The accusation does not even have to be true. But whether or not the accusation is true, it can have the power to destroy an individual’s reputation. David Horowitz was accused of being racist on more than occasion, but he has fought back such allegations.
And such appears to be the case in the WNBA. As I mentioned in a previous article, Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky has said that fans of Caitlin Clark are sending her death threats, following her home, and sending naked AI pics of her to her relatives. She went on to say that such harassment is racially motivated.
If these allegations are true, then why aren’t they being investigated, especially since Reese is a celebrity- in which such harassment would have been dealt with immediately? Has Reese provided any evidence of harassment? Has the investigation come up with anything (presuming there is an actual investigation)? Is the harassment and threats being carried out by fans of Clark? And is it racially motivated?
Or is it possible that Reese’s accusations are false? And if that is the case, then why is she making such accusations? Is she doing it out of jealousy towards Clark? Is she just wanting attention (i.e. be the victim)?
As it turns out, Reese is not the only player from the Chicago Sky making such accusations. Dana Evans and Isabelle Harrison have said they never seen so hate and harassment until this season. They claimed that the bigotry and racism they’ve experienced comes from fans of the Chicago Sky as well as other people.
Can they also produce any evidence of such harassment? Is the criticism racially motivated? Could the criticism be the result of the Chicago Sky having a losing record? Or could Reese’s teammates are also trying to play the role of the victim(s)?
A few months ago, accusations of racism came from Reese’s former college teammate Hailey Van Lith in response to a column by Michael Merrick of the Los Angeles Times, who described the LSU Women’s Basketball Team as “dirty debutantes”. However, Van Lith failed to realize that such a remark was a reference to pornography and is actually a sexist remark and not racist. I should point out that Van Lith had entered the transfer portal for the second time. She played at Louisville (where she graduated with a degree in finance in three years). She then transferred to LSU (where she obtained her master’s degree). She will spend her final year of college at TCU (she had an extra year of eligibility due to the Covid-19 Pandemic).
I’m curious as to why she keeps transferring.
At any rate, it seems that going woke, the concept of Critical Race Theory, etc. seem to be prevalent in the WNBA.
