The REAL Harm Done By Calling Everyone You Don’t Like ‘Hitler’ Is BIGGER Than Lefties Think
It's the worst thing a person can be called... for a reason
There’s a reason Hitler holds a special place of disgrace in public memory. He combined the ambition and destruction of Attila The Hun with the personal malice of a serial killer.
Other world leaders have been just as murderous and cruel, but Hitler stands out more clearly in our imagination, in part, because we have gone to great lengths to keep that promise our grandparents made to ‘Never Forget’.
American soldiers were on the front line when NAZI death camps were liberated. A deliberate decision was made to document what we found there. Monuments and memorials were built to keep them in the public consciousness. Documentaries were made. Books written. And the infamous gate at Auschwitz with its haunting message still stands astride a door to a world of horror from which we cannot, dare not, look away.
That is what it means to be Hitler. A NAZI.
To attach that term to anything less than that same horrific murderous intent is more than just a violation of ‘Godwin’s Law’. It’s more than a hackneyed political attack.
To carelessly throw around terms like ‘Nazi’ and ‘fascist’ is to cheapen those terms and insult the memory of the millions of lives that ideology destroyed in a holocaust.
There is a right response for the political right to make whenever those terms of “Nazi” and “Fascist” are thrown around like a midget in a mosh pit.
We start by not taking the bait. We finish by taking the clowns making these accusations to school.
Bill Whittle puts on a short master class in showing exactly how it’s done. Enjoy!
