Beauty For Ashes: Redemption And The LA Fires
If the LA fires don’t put the fear of God in you then I don’t know what would – such brutal and widespread devastation.

If the LA fires don’t put the fear of God in you then I don’t know what would – such brutal and widespread devastation. Tens of thousands of homes and businesses burned to the ground. Poof … gone.
Can you imagine?
One day you are enjoying the spoils of comfortable living in a beautiful part of the US and the next day it’s a barely recognizable, burnt to a crisp, apocalyptic hellscape. Unreal.
Look, I’m no fan of La-La-Land but I wouldn’t wish what happened to them on my worst enemy.
What I do wish on them, or rather, pray will happen to them, especially the unwashed in Cali who were impacted directly by the wildfires is that they would close in with Christ like never before. Yep, I pray that a big ol’ demon-slaying spiritual awakening would rise out of those ashes and LA would indeed become the City of Angels.
For the Pharisees out there who think that’s a kookie idea, I’ll remind you that one of God’s top jobs is redeeming hellish places and people that the self-righteous have written off. King Jimmy put it this way …
“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.” – 1Cor. 1:27-29
I pray that the Holy Ghost rakes a bunch of Southern Californians into the Kingdom of God. Yep, I pray for a fresh Great Awakening to smack that land like never before and that Isaiah 61:3 would be fulfilled in real-time namely; “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.”
