LINN: The Resistance Part 2: Electric Boogaloo
With Biden no longer complicit in advancing their agenda, Resist-ers are getting the band back together

Over the past several months there have been calls for either resistance or revolution. Here are several examples:
- Last month, New York Governor Kathy Hochul stated that she would lead the resistance against the Trump Administration due to the Donald’s objection to her implementing a congestion toll program aimed at reducing traffic in New York City (as well as funding the city’s transit system). But she also wanted to lead the resistance over the Trump Administration’s plan to cut federally funded social programs. California Governor Gavin Newsom had originally sought to lead the resistance, but apparently has decided not to given the fallout over the wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
- A series of Handsoff protests took place in New York City and elsewhere across the nation, in which demonstrators spoke out against the Trump Administration’s policies. Such policies included the cutting of federal programs, eliminating government departments & agencies, the deportation of illegal immigrants, and transgendered individuals participating in women’s sports.
- Last month, Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went on a “fight the oligarchy” tour in Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada in an attempt to rally support against the Trump Administration’s policies. No surprise considering AOC had called for the Left to mobilize a few months ago. AOC claims there were record-breaking numbers of people in attendance, but it is likely she is exaggerating (or perhaps she is even lying about how many people attended these rallies). AOC also claims the only financial contributions to both her and Sanders come from small dollar and individual donations from everyday people, not from corporations and industrial lobbyists. It is unclear if these donations were used to pay for their tour or for campaign contributions.
- Barack Obama recently suggested that Americans that sacrifice might be necessary in order to resist the Trump Administration’s policies. He went on to say that the Donald was attempting to destroy the post-World War II international order and that the Donald’s behavior was “contrary to the basic compact we have as Americans”. He also said that universities and law firms should be more involved in the resistance.
When I keep hearing about the resistance to the Trump Administration, my first thoughts were of the Resistance from Star Wars (Episodes VII-IX). But contrary to what the Left says, the Donald is not a fascist, nor is his administration an oligarchy.
So, come 2028, who will be the Democratic candidate? I don’t think it will be Newsom, since political career is probably over due to the fallout from the Los Angeles (as previously mentioned). Sanders will be in his late eighties come 2028, and AOC is a clueless, thirty-something adolescent. Could the Democrats give Kamala Harris another shot, or maybe give Hillary Clinton one last chance (even though she turns 80 in 2028)? Time will tell.
