Kari Lake went to Congress, answering some questions about her intentions with Voice Of America… but NOBODY was expecting her to drop this truth bomb.
Have you noticed Democrats don’t seem to worry too much when legacy outlets are shoveling BS stories? Maybe it’s because their biases push them to share bogus stories about the political right.
That doesn’t mean the left can NEVER get hit by a friendly.
Kari Lake has been on the receiving end of political horse-whippings often enough that she knows how to handle herself. But as a media personality, she well-acquainted with how the sausage is made, too. More importantly, as a professional communicator, she understands the concept of framing a story.
If she had defended her position by citing Harvard facts about anti-conservative bias, or pointed out errors in her interlocutor’s logic? Everything she had to say would be completely ignored.
But if you tailor your arguments to match the concerns of your audience, they have a way of cutting through the politcal BS.
The Democrat used his allotted time — not to ask questions, but to attack and demean Kari Lake, who had come called to deliver Congressional testimony related to her role in the Trump administration.
Kari Lake was being questioned by an Arizona Democrat. Coming from the same state, she would be familiar with the local scuttlebutt and scandalous stories that have come and gone over the years. It just so happened that the Democrat in this exchange was no stranger to ‘fake news’. He had been the target of a now-discredited scandal story that had implicated him as having a homosexual lover.
Kari Lake pulled on that story to make her point. The Congressman was outraged, demanding it be struck from the record.
Kari Lake just absolutely destroyed a deranged Democrat who was losing his mind over her election challenges in Arizona.

But here’s the genius of her using that particular example. If the Voice of America had run that very same story, the Congressman who demanded Kari Lake strike this story from the record — a story she explicitly framed as bogus reporting of an event that never happened — a congressman would have no recourse in demanding that even a false story be pulled from the record.
It’s even worse than that: under the current arrangement, they would have the right to sue the Congressman if he dared to ‘interfere’ in their reporting by demanding a false story be pulled.
Judo famously takes the opponent’s momentum and turns it against them. Kari Lake did the very same thing with her opponent’s outrage, having him and his demands to strike her statement from the record do the heavy lifting for the point she was trying to make.

Here she is outlining a litany of security risks inherent in how the Voice of America was being run, including the hiring of foreign spies.

Did you catch when she mentioned the story about the Russian journo hired to write anti-American propaganda on the taxpayer’s time? Or the line item that literally said ‘quid pro quo’?
These are the questions a politician genuinely interested in oversight would actually ask. But Dems don’t care about oversight. They care about power.1
