Heroic Soldiers Stop Sgt-Gone-Rogue Before Anyone Got Killed… Here’s What Happened
This time, the threat they had to face was a friendly in their own back yard

If anyone looks at the Fort Stewart, Georgia incident and gives a knowing look suggesting someone came back from conflict and went bad, stop him right there. Because that never happened.
There’s a lot we still don’t know about the guy who apparently brought his personal firearm to Fort Stewart, and began opening fire on his colleagues. But one this we CAN safely rule out is any combat-related PTSD.
Not only did the Sgt behind the shootings that brought 5 of his colleagues to the hospital not serve in combat, his supply-line logistics role would never have put him at serious risk of being in harm’s way.
To bullet point what happened:
Who & Where:
Sgt. Quornelius Radford. Active duty. Age, 28. Joined the Army in 2018, serving as an autamated logistical specialist. Stationed in 2nd Brigade Combat Team — Fort Stewart, Georgia.
The Crisis Event
For reasons that are still unclear, the suspect began firing on other soldiers at Fort Stewart just before 11 am on the morning of Wednesday, Aug 6. Five of his colleagues were shot and injured, requiring medical treatment, although we are glad to say everyone is expected to recover.
In response to the shooting, other soldiers on the scene immediately responded to the threat, tackling and subduing him to put the attack to an end.
This is the detail of the story we want to linger over for a moment where so many others would turn their attention to the Eee-vil Gun Owners™, or gleefully reporting some kind of a breakdown or moral failure in the military, this is an honest-to-goodness example of the exact Warrior Ethos that Pete Hegseth has been trying to revitalize in the military, and we hope those involved in putting an end to this would-be mass killer are given the recognition such heroics deserve.
So the attacker was subdued, taken into custody, and, as a soldier, will face his relevant charges at his Court Martial. Until that time, he remains in pre-trial detention.
Why:
The closest thing we have to a possible motive so far is speculation and reports that one of the soldiers he shot may have had some kind of argument/disagreement with the assailant on the previous day.
As always, such speculation is to be taken with a grain of salt in the early stages of investigating such events.
Public response:
Both President Trump and Pete Hegseth have made public comments denouncing the attacker who will be, Trump assured ‘prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law’, and whose actions were described by Hegseth as ‘cowardly’.
A more detailed account of the events themselves was given by Brig Gen John Lubas:
BREAKING: Brigadier General John Lubas has confirmed that the alleged shooter is Quornelius Radford.
There is no punishment severe enough for a man who turned his weapon on the people he serves alongside with.
All soldiers are expected to survive and thank God for that! pic.twitter.com/m2CsABtZax

Past History
It will inevitably be asked whether there were warning signs that others on the base might have missed. So far as priors, he had no criminal history that his unit would have been aware of, and it was only after his actions today that reports of a possible DUI arrest this past May have come to light.
