Trump Takes Action To Correct Critical Errors From Last Census… Orders A New One

Dems knew what they were doing when they fought like hell to make it happen

Some of those close House vote battles we’ve seen would have gone a lot smoother if Dems hadn’t gamed the system in a couple of different ways to pad their numbers. Trump will be righting those wrongs.

Honestly, for most of us, Trump’s announcement might not even seem like such a big deal… until we put it in its historical context.

Let’s start with the announcement, and then back-fill the reason this will have a significant impact not just on the coming cycle, but beyond it as well.

Trump took to TruthSocial in making an announcement this morning:

I have instructed our Department of Commerce to immediately begin work on a new and highly accurate CENSUS based on modern day facts and figures and, importantly, using the results and information gained from the Presidential Election of 2024. People who are in our Country illegally WILL NOT BE COUNTED IN THE CENSUS. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

And now, some more about the ‘why’

Without realizing it, NPR tipped the left’s hand back in 2021, when it blasted Trump over wanting to exclude illegal aliens in the census data.

From a failed bid for a citizenship question to a presidential memo about unauthorized immigrants that was fast-tracked to the Supreme Court, its moves over the past four years followed a playbook first drawn up more than four decades ago by the Federation for American Immigration Reform.

In 1979, the hard-line group that became the most influential advocate for extreme restrictions on immigration launched a campaign that has held onto one consistent goal — obtaining an official count of unauthorized immigrants through the census to radically reshape Congress, the Electoral College and public policy. — NPR

The presence of those illegal aliens in the census inflates the electoral power of Sanctuary states by giving them a greater share of the national voice, even supposing the individual illegal aliens, or their children, never touched a single ballot in their entire lives.

Much of the right misunderstood the soft-power tactics of influence, attention, money, and deplatforming that would be the REAL levers of power the left had in mind when the confidentally bragged they would have a ‘new civil war‘ (that prescient ClashDaily article goes back to 2018) in which they would force blue state values down the throats of red state America whether they liked it or not… exactly as we saw happening in the Biden years.

Pew Research was a little more balanced in their 2020 description of that same ‘reshaping’.

Since the first census of the United States in 1790, counts that include both citizens and noncitizens have been used to apportion seats in the House of Representatives, with states gaining or losing based on population change over the previous decade. If unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. were removed from the 2020 census apportionment count – which the White House seeks to do – three states could each lose a seat they otherwise would have had and three others each could gain one, according to a Pew Research Center analysis based on government records.

If unauthorized immigrants were excluded from the apportionment count, California, Florida and Texas would each end up with one less congressional seat than they would have been awarded based on population change alone. California would lose two seats instead of one, Florida would gain one instead of two, and Texas would gain two instead of three, according to analysis based on projections of Census Bureau 2019 population estimates and the Center’s estimates of the unauthorized immigrant population.

Ultimately, Dem activists got their way, and the 2020 election was built on maps that included illegal aliens in the census numbers. But even THAT wasn’t the whole story of how the voices of voters in red state were short-changed in a way tha conveniently maximized the Dem agenda. (You could just as easily use the word ‘disenfranchised’)

According to the government’s own data, there were significant errors in the last census, with several states over-counted and several others under-counted. Overall, those errors tilted strongly in the left’s benefit. Gee, how unexpected.

According to the PES, which states had undercounts?
Arkansas (-5.04),
Florida (-3.48),
Illinois (-1.97),
Mississippi (-4.11),
Tennessee (-4.78), and
Texas (-1.92).

And overcounts?
Delaware (+5.45),
Hawaii (+6.79),
Massachusetts (+2.24),
Minnesota (+3.84),
New York (+3.44),
Ohio (+1.49),
Rhode Island (+5.05), and
Utah (+2.59)

The redistricting battle in Texas is part of that same larger fight.

It’s the same fight that Obama’s ‘wingman’ Eric Holder has been waging while touring courts around the country. He’s been filing dubious arguments constructed to force Dem-friendly electoral maps on districts they might not otherwise win. Their goal is to turn America into California, where elections become little more than window-dressing on top of a permanent administrative state that entrenches leftwing ideals and becomes the unaccountable power center that really calls the shots.
