Babylon Bee’s ‘Cancelled Mascots Support Group’ Bit Is Comedy Gold!
Let's all welcome the new guy!

Imagine how much different America might have been had Twitter 1.0 not declared war on Babylon Bee, capturing Elon’s imagination about just how bad cancel culture was getting.
It’s been a while since we’ve highlighted any of their bits — yes, they’re still cranking out bangers — but the one they put out yesterday about ‘Canceled Mascots’ was too good to pass up.
To really appreciate how rare their talent for satirical humor is becoming, let’s flash back to yesteryear’s benchmark for comedy: late night shows. Colbert has somehow managed to scuttle a successful franchise all by himself, but Kimmel is still more or less hanging on.
He tried to leverage the Doocy question we covered yesterday into a dunk on Trump and JD, not realizing that his team was actually the brunt of the joke. When Doocy asked Trump about the left getting worked up over rumours of Trump having died over the weekend, Trump had no idea what he was talking about. JD, on the other hand, knew exactly what Doocy was asking about. He was loving how stupid the left was looking with their ridiculous weekend death-watch knowing full well that they would show up at the Oval and see that ‘bad orange man’ still sitting comfortably behind the Resolute Desk.
Kimmel, of course assumed it was glee at the idea of Trump being dead, as though the rest of uas are as shallow and contemptable as he, himself, is. We’re laughing AT you, not WITH you, Jimmy. We have been, ever since you came out as the ‘Crying Pope of Wokery’ more interested in reciting verbatim Schumer/Pelosi talking points than telling jokes.
Late Night (except for Gutfeld, who is crusing it) has become the place where jokes go to die. But comedy will never go away. It just adapts.
Which brings us to the Bee. While Kimmel was looking for a political angle to make leftwing idiocy somehow a GOP problem, Babylon Bee was using screwball humor to take us to unexpected places.
Remember the Cracker Barrel fiasco, where the old guy and his barrel were dropped from the logo? Babylon Bee imagined a support group for cancelled mascots. And it was great!
Chief Wahoo’s final line was a nice flourish to end the bit.
If you haven’t been following them on social media, you’ve been missing out. Humor isn’t dead. It’s moved on to somewhere it was actually welcome.
If we’re smart, the right will see this as a reminder not to take ourselves ‘too’ seriously.
