Being murdered for professing faith in Jesus Christ sure will mess with the Kumbaya categories of many Christians who believed the lie that life is all about having God as some kind of celestial butler.

Watching a faithful witness of Jesus Christ bleed out from an assassin’s bullet will let the air out of belief that God is some kind of Cosmic vending machine that will give you want when you plug in enough faith tokens.

As thousands of Christians who die for their faith every year could tell us, the faith we profess is not for the weak of heart sloppy agape fairweather faithful. The stakes are FAR higher than that.

Why else do you think that it was just for the Apostles that the words of Christ are recorded…

The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

We’re in for some serious opposition. If the Enemy of our Souls is playing for real stakes, maybe we should take seriously what it was we were told about being ready for such situations, eh?

You can guarantee that he explicit instructions from scripture that prepare us for such situations highlighted in Doug’s message this past weekend won’t be seen in more than a handful of pulpits nationwide. We’re honest about the threat without telling people to duck and cover, waiting for some kind of celestial rescue… we want this generation trained up to walk boldly among the wolves.
