Why Is Reuters Deep-Sixing A Story That’s Embarrassing To Xi?

If it made Trump look bad, they'd be running it 24/7.

The same media that gladly runs stories based on leaked information, up to and including the ‘Pentagon Papers’, suddenly has ‘scruples’ about ‘sourcing’ if it makes Xi look like some kind of homicidal mad scientist.

It reminds one of the quote from the Joker in The Dark Knight, ‘what happened, your balls drop off’?

Reuters is supposed to be a news outlet. Reporting the news without fear or favor, or so we’re supposed to believe. Obviously, that’s a lie. But just how far are they willing to go to appease parties they are careful not to offend?

This is important information, since the people they are unwilling to offend are the very ones we cannot expect them to tell us the truth about.

Last week, a clip was making the rounds, where Putin and Xi were walking side-by-side and a translator picked up what they were saying on a hot mic. What he was saying made him sound like a homicidal Supervillain right out of James Bond, ready to harvest organs from younger people so that he could live on indefinitely.

Here’s written text of what the translator represented Xi as saying.

ClashDaily made the editorial decision that a video showing Xi out to be a homicidal psychopath is hardly newsworthy, seeing as how heavy-handed he has been on Uyghurs, on dissident groups, and on the exercise of religious rights of non-favored groups including Christians, who were ordered to take down religious iconography, post images of dear leader, and include his speech in defense of the Communist revolution as part of their sermons.

He’s been emboldened to the point that he’s putting up unmarked ‘police stations’ around the world to intimidate Chinese citizens abroad.

We already know he’s a monster. One more weird quote about wanting to harvest organs in chasing immortality adds little or maybe even nothing to the dim view we already have of him.

But a news service bending the knee and pulling a story he finds embarrassing? Now it’s a story.

Reuters News on Friday withdrew a four-minute video containing an exchange between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussing the possibility that humans can live to 150 years old, after China state TV demanded its removal and withdrew the legal permission to use it.
The footage, which included the open mic exchange from the military parade in Beijing marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two, was licensed by the China state television network, China Central Television (CCTV). — Reuters

Yeah, no. We’re not buying it.

Cany you imagine any possible situation where, if Trump were caught saying something embarrassing on a hot mic, that the news service would voluntarily stop talking about it simply because the ‘rights for the story’ were now pulled?

Of course not. They would stand behind ‘fair use’ because the leaked story, however embarrassing, was of legitimate news interest. Simple ‘copyright’ infractions would hardly be enough to stop them.

The video itself, that Reuters won’t run?

Jan Jekielek has posted it.

Here’s what that video that Xi wanted to memory-hole looks like.

We’ll let our readers decide on the ‘newsworthy-ness’:
