No Survivors Found In MASSIVE TN Munitions Factory Explosion — Here’s What We Know

The investigation is just getting started, it’s far too soon to know what set it off.

Bucksnort Tennessee is hardly a household name. It’s a rural community with no post office, and it’s not even big enough to show up as a stand-alone community in the census records.

But on Friday Morning, that name became a national story, as a munitions factory responsible for making everything from Claymore mines to Javelin missiles (as well as commercial explosives applications) was ripped to pieces in a blast whose origin is unknown.

Here is Sheriff Chris Davis describing the site as the worst devastation he or his staff have ever encountered, as he grapples with the realization that the 19 or more people present are unlikely to have survived a blast of that magnitude.

He did not mince words when he said: ‘There’s nothing to describe. It’s gone.’

The before and after tells a story that words cannot quite capture.

The factory has one small mishap 11 years ago that cost one employee their life, but it was ruled an accident. Reports do not point to systematic problems with their safety record.

So many agencies showed up on scene that the Sheriff didn’t want to list them for fear of leaving some out.

One of the possibilities one hopes we can eventually rule out would be an act of deliberate sabotage. With America taking a more direct role in the Ukraine conflict — including supplying munitions like, say, the Javelin missile — it’s a good time to remember that a lot of unvetted people came across that border, including Chinese nationals, some of whom have been seen acting shady in and around military bases.

Hopefully the facts on the ground will tell us this was just a case of tragic human error. Because the other explanation is nothing less than horrifying.
