Mohmed Ali, of Dearborn, Michigan, and Majed Mahmoud are accused of plotting to launch a terror-inspired mass shooting codenamed “pumpkin,” according to court documents. They’ve been charged with receiving, transferring and attempting to receive and transfer firearms knowing and having reasonable cause to believe that they would be used to commit terrorism.

Ali practiced shooting at a local gun range multiple times, including with Mahmoud, a juvenile suspect referred to as “Person 1” and under the alias “Athari” — and once with an unnamed “Co-conspirator 4,” according to the complaint.

“So ya, I talked to my brothers. We are going to do pumpkin,” he allegedly told Ali. “I talked to…[Co-conspirator 4] and [Co-conspirator 5], they said it is getting bad. So we got to do pumpkin, ya.”

Before they could act, however, authorities served federal search warrants on both men’s homes and a storage unit in nearby Inkster, recovering three AR-15-style rifles, two shotguns, four pistols and more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition, along with other evidence including GoPro cameras, tactical vests and other gear.

The target they are said to have been surveilling was a place called Ferndale. The news article blandly calls it a ‘hub’ for LGBT activity. Yeah, well, that might be underselling the point a litttle. According to a website called ‘Pridesource’, it’s a lot more than that.

Ferndale has been known as one of Michigan’s biggest queer hubs for decades. With many of the hallmarks that distinguish a Greenwich Village, a Castro, an Andersonville — traits like a walkable downtown, a diverse array of restaurants, bars and cafes, and housing stock that’s long proven catnip to renovators — it fits the mold of many urban queer enclaves which preceded it or developed in parallel. But it differs in one important way from those other areas: it’s a suburb, located just past Eight Mile beyond the bounds of the City of Detroit — and so it lies outside the heart of the metro area its resources often serve. —Pridesource

And that’s were the news pivots to opinion in this story. It’s one of those obvious facts that everyone can see. Everyone, that is, except those who benefit from remaining willfully blind to them.

There is a dangerous flaw in the heart of the left’s strategy of demonizing ‘normie’ America and rallying disparate people who hate it to rally to your cause.

The haters and activists who find your movement attractive have motives, goals and affections of their own. And many of them might want an entirely different list things than what your movement wants to accomplish. And we seem to be reaping the fruit of that labor right now, not only with AOC crowing about displacing the old guard of what was (allegedly) her own party, but with entire populations who do not prioritize the foundational documents on which this country was established… or the Western values that sprang out of them.

Dems on the left might think that’s a good thing. Until they find out that the values rushing in to fill that vacuum are not the secular globalist, or even secular socialist/communist values they assumed would dominate.

This story involves of the rejection of values those who thought the subersion could be leveraged to their own purposes hold as sacrosanct. And it will not be the last time, either.

America spent four years under Biden with open borders, and something like 15 years or more in which even the mildest criticisms of the Religion of Peace™ was immediately denounced as islamophobia.

Of course, that stigma made it nearly impossible (by design, mind you) to have meaningful conversations about difficult topics of culture clash.

Topics as varied as integration, Female Genital Mutilation, honor killings, and the implications of a culture taught it is a duty to their god that Sharia law be pressed as the law of the land wherever they call home. Such people might have difficulties integrating into Western culture that embraces a wide variety of religious, ethical, speech, and even sexual norms that are often antithetical to the ones they hold dear.

When someone took up arms against American citizens, it was always some ‘lone wolf’ who was ‘radicalized’ by some fringe extremist group or another. And this may be what happened here. Or maybe it’s part of a bigger problem than we’re allowed to talk about. The ‘Michigan Problem’ that prevented Kamala from choosing the far more competent Governor Shapiro as her running mate, for instance.

Now that everyone has been hit with every label of ‘bigot’ to the point that the word has lost all meaning, and we are starting to see the cracks in the ‘utopia’ many of us have been describing since Obama still lived at 1600, maybe it’s time we started having these serious conversations about culture and integration.
