If You’re Going Through Hell, Keep Going

How many Christians duck divinely-ordained difficulty harder than Biden’s ‘Health Secretary’ avoids a treadmill?
We’ve got TV preachers telling us that God loves us and doesn’t want us going through the tough times.
And then we’ve open up the Verbum Dei and see that he loves us enough to let us go through it.
What are we getting wrong that there’s such a disconnect? What are the ‘run from trouble’ peeps missing that make their message so very, very different from the God who cares enough to put let his people sweat it out in the crucible for a time?
We’ll throw this in for free even before we get to the sermon itself. Jeremiah was one of the Big Dawgs in the Old Testament period. Wrote a big chunck of scripture.
When he made the mistake of whining to God about his problems and how the bad guys always seem to keep winning how did God answer him?
Sure, he told him how bleak the real future of the men he resented actually was, but before that, God chastened him.
If you have raced with men on foot, and they have wearied you,
how will you compete with horses?
And if in a safe land you are so trusting,
what will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?
In other words, if you want to be man enough to handle what’s coming down the road, you’re gonna have to toughen up now.
If God said that to his special boy, what do you think he’d have to say to today’s example of Church-ianity?
