OOPS: Unforced Error Has Mamdani Answering Uncomfortable Questions
There was a straightforward way to prove his critics wrong... and this wasn't it

If Hizzonner wanted to prove his critics wrong, all he had to do was show up as Mayor and run a competent administration that delivered on his improbable promises.
But less than a week into his term as Mayor of America’s most important city and we him backpedaling after making public policy declarations on questions well outside of the office he chose to run for.
All he had to do was focus on the concerns of a mayor. In today’s social media parlance: ‘can you just act normal for like five minutes?’ Alas, events of the day were too much as he took to X to weigh in on the Maduro story.
Here was the tweet:

Whatever your opinion of the events in Venezuela, the one thing that everyone understands is that it will be resolved at the federal level, not by the mayor of a municipality, however large that city might be.
He might have been seen as just another citizen with a loud opinion if he’d left out that last paragraph. But the ‘monitor the situation’ and claims he would ‘issue guidance’ got him dragged on social media.
Bro, who do you think you’re kidding? You (or more likely, a staffer) read it on X, just like everyone else. And to whom, may we ask, do you have the executive authority to ‘issue guidance’?
Zohran Mamdani is cornered and forced to admit that he has no security clearance and was not “briefed” on arrest of Maduro.

Completely unforced. He could have focused on the day-to-day running of the city, instead of chasing national headlines for clout.
Worse, with some of his more controversial appointments, he’s already getting reminders that whatever action he takes in refashioning NYC must do so in compliance with the law, including anti-discrimination laws.
New York: Consider this your official notice from @TheJusticeDept.
We will NOT tolerate discrimination based on skin color. It is ILLEGAL. @CivilRights is paying very close attention.

But why do we throw so much shade on Mamdani?
To play Devil’s advocate for a second, his defenders might object that I’m jumping to conclusions about him before he’s had a chance to do anything.
That might be fair. But the natural follow-up question to that one is simple:
Is there some precedent, beyond the obvious ideological ones, that would make me distrust him or the groups with which he works?
While I obviously can’t speak for the motives of others, but I can present my own reasons.
The answer to that one goes back to the Democratic Socialists of America group to which both he and others like AOC belong, and their recurring use of lies and misdirection to push an agenda, which needs to be unpacked in two steps.
In the Biden years, West Virginia’s Joe Manchin was famously the last holdout standing in the way of single-party passing of Biden’s ‘Build Back Better Act’ because he had grave concerns about the inflationary consequences of such a massive spending bill. It stalled out was retooled into something called the ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ which poured gas on the inflation problem as at soared to 9%.
President Biden said at a fundraiser Thursday that he regrets calling one of his major legislative achievements the Inflation Reduction Act — because the primary goal was environmental spending and not to lower prices.
“The Inflation Reduction Act — I wish I hadn’t called it that, because it has less to do with reducing inflation than it does to do with dealing with providing for alternatives that generate economic growth,” Biden said in Park City, Utah. –-NYPost
By itself, that might be seen as standard cynical political gamesmanship. But we need to look behind that layer to the one behind it. When AOC presented the Green New Deal, (much of which was incorporated into Biden’s IRA) was formally rejected by Congress and Senate when she presented it. They pretended to hate it when it was presented by name, but quietly slipped it in when it could be dressed up as something else.
Now we go back to what AOC’s original chief of staff (who is once again running for office) had to say about the REAL goal of the Green New Deal.
In his words — not ours — he said that Green New Deal was never about changing the environment (which we are assured the Dems care so very deeply about) but about forcing their agenda onto the American economy.
The original quote, cited in the last half of this ClashDaily article was not from a right-wing rag, but from the Trump-hating WaPo of Trump’s first term. AOC’s Chief-Of-Staff Suddenly QUITS – The Feds Smell A Rat
The key line in Saikat Chakrabarti’s quote:
“Do you guys think of it as a climate thing?” Chakrabarti says, “Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.” You can’t get much more revolutionary than that.
Funny how that agenda never comes up when they pitch the benefits of their green economy, except when they’re talking to the most devout of their fellow leftists.
I owe precisely nothing to any politician or movement with such a high view of themselves, and low view of the voters that makes one sort of promises while running and delivers the opposite once they’ve smooth-talked their way to political power.
As we’ve so often said, Democrat scandals are on the promises they fail to deliver on, wherase in the Trump years the outrage is over the campaign promises on which he delivers.
As for the cherry on top? We can’t help but notice the largest ‘philanthropist’ funder for the greater leftwing agenda, the Soros family, just HAPPENS to be a self-described amoral economic opportuniist with a track record of collapsing fragile economies, and reaping billion$ on the untold harm to the marginalized and poor in the economies he tanked. In other words, the man who built his entire fortune on ORCHESTRATING the misfortune of others is the donor/puppeteer of today’s political left.
But now, everything Soros funds today is done out of the goodness of his heart. Surely.
Let’s just say the DSA has a to overcome a SERIOUS trust deficit before online pundits like me can take him at his word on… well… pretty much anything.
And for that, they have only themselves to blame.
