Sen Fetterman Sets Record Straight On Trump NOT Violating The War Measures Act
Despite all the hand-wringing we've seen, Trump's been doing this by the book
Democrats (and the usual suspects among Republicans) are getting ready to hold votes over Iran, while Fetterman is going on the Sunday shows and setting media talking heads straight on the facts.
Fetterman is a long way from being a Republican, but what he does have going for him is an ability to call BS on some of his own party’s BS talking points. That includes their knee-jerk opposition to everything Trump does.
When questioned by CNN about what’s been happening in Iran, and the angsty complaints on both sides that Trump has been acting without Congressional consent, Fetterman responded with a pretty simple question: have people even read the war powers act? He then demonstrated that Trump has played entirely within the scope of those requirements.
Senator Fetterman just exposed how fellow Democrats condemning President Trump’s strikes on Iran likely haven’t even read the War Powers Act.

He has since followed up on Fox with an announcement that he will likely be the only Democrat to be against the upcoming War Powers vote that will be moving through Congress this week.

As Ian McKelvey helpfully replied to one loudly skeptical online personality:
Under the War Powers Resolution Act (see Public Law 93‑148), the president can authorize military actions through their power as Commander in Chief. Further, under Section 4(a)(1), the President has a 48‑hour reporting requirement, which states the following.
“In the absence of a declaration of war, in any case in which United States Armed Forces are introduced… the President shall submit within 48 hours to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and to the President pro tempore of the Senate a report…”
As for the authority of the legislation Trump has already thus far complied with…? The jury is still out on that. And we mean that more than figuratively. The Constitutional strength and/or validity of that legislation has never actually been tested in court.
