Is James Comey Calling For (Another) Coup On National Television?
For all his talk about 'higher loyalty'... he's out of step with this thing called the Constitution
There’s a reason people called Comey a ‘political knife-figther’ even when he was still running the FBI. He knows how to fight dirty while making it seem like he’s taking the high road.
That’s how he fooled as many people as he did while pulling political hit jobs that made J Edgar Hoover look like Ned Flanders. He knows the law well enough to skirt accountability for most of the sneezy things he does (or stand in the shadow of others who can shield him from those consequences) and then he grins smugly at you like that creepy kid who likes to tease a dog on a chain. Until the fateful day he fails to notice the dog has slipped his collar. Oops.
He’s in one of those cycles now, confident he can skate away unscathed with layers of plausible deniability or favorable juries and so on. As always, he is using his own situation to whip up a ‘resistance’ against the sitting president.
Here he is on Meet The Press talking about people being fired for having been just as corrupt as he himself was, and how it’s ‘bad’ for the President to fire agents who prioritized grinding political axes above taking bad guys off the streets.

When he wrote his book, even the title (A Higher Loyalty) was self-serving and sanctimonious. It was also a lie. In swearing an oath to a Constitution, there are only 3 branches of government. The Legislative branch, the Executive branch, and the Judicial. The Framers constructed the Executive branch so that ALL Americans would be responsible for choosing the President, and he would be most directly responsible to the nation’s interests as a whole, rather than regional factions.
The Framers make no mention of the various 3-letter agencies that spring up as contingent on and an outgrowth of the powers invested by the people in the President. The ‘take care’ cause “[the President] shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed” applies to him and everyone under him. The entire idea of ‘serving at the pleasure of the president’ is a natural extension of the fact that everyone serving in the executive branch is doing so on the delegated authority of the President, who is the only person in elected government with an entire branch of government bound up in a single person.
So long as the President’s orders (or those of his delegated agents) are within the scope of the law, they are to be obeyed. If your conscience cannot allow you to obey an order, then resign and speak out against the government as a private citizen.
That’s not what Comey is doing either in his personal life or what he is encouraging in others. He LIKED the politicized FBI that spent more time arresting grandmothers praying outside of abortion clinics and wanted moles in Latin Mass than he does the Trump 2.0 FBI that has named 8 of the top ten most wanted, broke the back of God only knows HOW many child trafficking rings, and dropped murder rates by some 20% or so in the first year.
This admin took prosecuting crime seriously. Comey and Wray were too busy protecting the political status quo.
How do we know that guys like him are waiting to launch their revenge tour? It’s not hard.
Remember the charges Biden tried to throw at Trump? Biden-era prosecutors made the deliberate choice to RETAIN the evidence they had against Trump until the year AFTER he finishes his second Term rather than let it go as a case they are no longer pursuing. Keep in mind, we have already seen that all sorts of rights were trampled and laws were likely broken in the generating of the case against Trump. There WAS no predicate for the Mar-A-Lago raid, for instance. Privilege was unlawfully pierced six ways past Sunday. And so on.
They have every intention — if their side wins in 2028 — of throwing everything they can at Trump to see what sticks.
