Given a choice between cooperation and open conflict, Carney made his choice
An agreement signed before Americans joined WWII has now been ‘paused’ as the Department of War considers whether it ought to view Canada as a good-faith partner to the agreement.
It’s called the The Permanent Joint Board on Defense (quick and dirty Wiki summary here), and it has been a bilateral group of both military and civilian representatives discussing policy at the highest levels, and bringing back their findings and recommendations to parties from both governments.
The Department of War has announced it will be suspending its participation in that working group, pending review.
Another tweet in the thread showed a map of North America and our shared borders and interests, with the caption:

Carney has been trying to look East across the Atlantic to Europe as a counterweight to Canada’s enormous trade reliance on USA. He’s been openly snubbing America any chance he gets.
That’s a really risky move at a time when America is busy re-evaluating who its true friends are. (Just ask Spain.)

Mark Carney is — first and foremost — a Darvos critter. An insider of the sort that helps WRITE their policy, unlike the guy Carney replaced (Trudeau) who merely executed every one of their whims.
Canada is one of SEVERAL passports he personally owns, and before he became PM he helped relocate a Canadian hedge fund to NYC. (He was their veep.)
It costs him nothing if Canada fails as a nation. He knows he can just relocate to another country. And it shows.
