A Live Dog Is Better Than A Dead Lion

Doug Giles's Sunday Message delivered at Liberty Fellowship, (Nov 12)

[EDITOR’S NOTE: More information about Liberty Fellowship, and Pastor Doug Giles can be found found on THIS link page.]

When Jesus hit those Seven Churches in Revelation, most of them learned something about themselves they didn’t like. Something that needed to change and change fast. Or else.

Some had all the right doctrine but lost sight of their first love. Some have adopted the bad doctrine and morality of the idolatrous culture they lived among. Some had a tolerant view toward sin. And one in particular looked like they had it all together but in the eyes of the LORD, they were ‘dead’.

If they didn’t wake up, Jesus warned that he would ‘come against them’ when the least expected it.

If God was dropping a message like that for the Church when we were still being thrown to lions, what do you think He’d say to us?

It’s easy to take your foot off the gas in a culture like the one we live in. If he wrote a letter to us — or to you personally — would He give us the the clean bill of health He gave to the faithful-but-struggling little persecuted church in Philadelphia?

Or would we get the kind of serious-as-a-heart-attack conversation about ‘critical life changes’ that a doctor might give to a patient with a blood pressure clocking in somewhere North of 160?

This message will give you a whole other idea of what it really means for a Christian to ‘look alive’… and it MIGHT not be what you’re thinking.

Lionhearted: Making Young Christian Males Rowdy Biblical Men

Dear young Christian male, this book you’re about to read is meant to challenge you to your very core. Its intent is not to make you feel warm and fuzzy. Some of the chapters will upset you greatly, especially if you’re a dandy who was raised with kid gloves by a helicopter mommy.

That said, in addition to the holy introspection contained herein, this book will also shoot adrenaline into your soul. It’ll push you to be a Godly risk taker and earth shaker. A veritable Rebel With A Cause just like the Captain of Our Salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ.

If you want a feel-good book that tickles your ears and morphs you into a little Christian popinjay, this tome ain’t for you. You should put this book down and walk away from it immediately. However, if, young man, if … your motto is to give God your utmost for His highest, and you wanna live a life worthy of Christ’s death, then this book will be grist for your mill.
