We’re Called to Expose False Prophets

A lot of people were lied to when they finished school. Maybe you were one of them. Were you told you’d never have to crack another book for the rest of your life?

Yeah. That advice is about as good as saying you’ll never have to work out again after the final game you play with your school team. You COULD live that way. But it’ll cost you.

There’s no shartage of people eating themselves into an early grave. But that’s not living, exactly.

And as sad as that image is, the way so many Christians neglect their bibles is far worse. You need look no further than the opening lines of the Lord’s Prayer to realize that He sent his Church to make something happen… here on Earth.

It’s not a hide out in a bunker and hope the bad guys don’t figure out which hole you’re hiding in, either. The Church Militant, as it used to be called, is expected to be on the march and taking new territory from the enemy of our souls.

And if we’re going to be a lick of good for that task, that’ll take some serious equipping.

Just like you don’t send high school grads to some faraway front line someplace without Basic Training and some knowledge of how to use the tools they’ve been given when they get there, Christians are not expected to walk blindly out into a hostile environment without some preparation of our own.

The firepower we’re describing for this task is NOT the kind of gear you’d find in a weapons locker. We’re talking about something bigger. Something spiritual, and this gear is designed for the tearing down of strongholds. In updated language? Remember the bunker-busters we dropped on Iran’s nuclear facility, where even being tucked away under a mountain wasn’t protection from the reach of Uncle Sam?

Tearing down strongholds. Storming castles. Busting bunkers.

Whatever metaphor you want to use, that’s what Christians have been called to… but just like Basic Training exists to turn boys into soldiers, His Word exists to turn believers into disciples, and veritable wrecking balls turned loose on the kingdom of darkness.

What’s that got to do with false prophets? Plenty.
