LOL: French Influencer Wanted To Mock American Institutions… But Is Falling In Love Instead

It's not exactly a modern-day de Tocqueville, but he's lighting up social media

While George Clooney and his wife cut their ties with America and embrace French citizenship, a French guy coming the other way is falling in love with the America Hollywood elites just can’t see.

Sure it’s a bit. But even in his bit, he’s seeing something wonderful about America that stuffed-shirt gazillionaires who have no sense of gratitude for how (ironically) privileged they are.

What makes it even better is that he has been framing these videos through the light touch of the very different cultural lenses that French and American people have in looking at the world. Attitudes toward cars, and personal space, and food, for example. It’s the kind of friendly ribbing you make between buddies, instead of the jealous and catty undermining of a work rival we see when the coastal media elites bother to talk about Red State America at all.

The first of his videos that I came across was hilarious. He was responding to Ted Cruz aggressively welcoming him to Texas from France in hopes of opening a business. (Bakery, naturally.) He got talking about big trucks, brisket, and American entrepreneurship. (He got some shots in when the topic turned to baked goods.)

The next one was even better. He described his first impression of rocking up to a Buc-ees.

He wanted to hate it, but it won him over. Can you guess what did him in? We’ll let you find that out for yourself in the video.

He’s not Alexis de Tocqueville in his observations about America, but in a way… what he’s seeing (and saying) to a large online audience is every bit as relevant to having America properly understood today as that other French visitor to America was, some 200 years ago.

His screen name is ÉROS BROUSSON. That’s also his X tag.

If you liked the humor in these clips, there’s plenty more like it on his channel.
