Salvation From The Penalty And Power Of Sin
Doug Giles' sermon recorded at Liberty Fellowship Church, in Wimberley Texas

If you only think of Jesus as the 8lb 5oz baby in the manger, or the Suffering Servant bleeding out on the Cross, you’ve missed the bigger picture by a country mile.
His birth and death are critical components of his mission. But the real deliverance he brought with Him are to be found in the Ressurection and the Life.
He didn’t just come to wash away our sin. Like that Pentatonix song reminds us, the child that Mary delivered would soon deliver her… and the rest of us too.
He came to deliver us from the wrath of a just and holy God…? Yes. That’s part of it. But it goes further than that. He came to deliver us from both the PENALTY of Sin — and the power it holds over us.
He came in to kick in the kingdom of Hell, and turn the rest of us loose on completing that mission.
While so many pulpiteers today talk about Jesus as if he came to accept our sin, Christ Jesus made it clear he went to war with it. It’s a war he came to win.
Buckle up. This is gonna get good!
