EVERYDAY HERO: Snow Truck Driver Saves Tiny Life In The Most EPIC Way

Sometimes we need a reminder that there is more to life than conflict and politics. The real heroes in life are not usually the sort of clowns who show up on headlines, but the regular people who just show up when they are needed.

Here’s a snow plow operator that shows the best of what makes America worth celebrating.

He was just a regular guy doing a regular job in a moment of time where his particular kind of blue-collar expertise was exactly what was needed in a crisis situation.

All he knew was that an ambulance was trying to get a little kid to the hospital in a life-and-death struggle. The roads were impassible because of the snowfall, but one guy with a blade on his truck showed up and cleared a path.

As a dad, he understood the stakes implicitly. He didn’t know, or even care about the details of the little kid who was clinging to life. No questions about social status, or demographics. He didn’t even know if it was a little boy or a little girl. All he knew was that a kid’s life was riding on him doing his job.

And he did exactly what was required of him.

A snowplow driver with the Ohio Department of Transportation helped clear snow-covered roads for an ambulance to get a sick baby to the hospital amid treacherous driving conditions over the weekend.

Joe Estes said he had received a call about 20 minutes into his Sunday shift requesting help for an ambulance transport.

A baby boy named Bryson needed immediate transport to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center for a higher level of care, but a storm had moved through the area and made roads nearly impassable.

“I got a phone call and they said, ‘We’ve got a sick baby. We need to get there, but we’re losing our window of time,’” Estes said.

Kelly Besl, part of Cincinnati Children’s transport team, said the crew knew roads would be impassable for an ambulance alone, so they called ODOT for help clearing the way.
