CDC AND EBOLA: Does It Know What It Doesn’t Know?
The sun rises every day here in America. People get up, go to work, and come home to be with their loved ones. They go to school, family gatherings, grocery shop, and get married. Americans go about their daily lives with a feeling of comfort and routine. All of the creature comforts and security they once may have had about their lives changed on September 20, 2014, the day “patient zero”, Eric Duncan, arrived in the United States from Liberia. A new era for living has begun that will change the face of a nation forever.
Duncan had traveled from Ebola-stricken Africa to Dallas, where he was diagnosed with having Ebola, not before he may have potentially infected thousands. Duncan left Africa with full knowledge that he had been exposed to the virus after trying to help an infected pregnant woman receive medical care. Reports are saying that Duncan even lied on a survey conducted by the Liberian government before he could travel to the United States.
The outbreak in Africa was reaching catastrophic proportions in the last months, killing thousands and infecting thousands more. The CDC is lying to the American people, with gross inconsistencies and false facts regarding information it’s giving to the general public. With the lack of leadership and real knowledge by the director of the CDC, Tom Frieden, Americans are left confused and frightened. The CDC seems to be playing the “who’s on first” shtick, as they are learning as they go.
Hospitals are not equipped to handle what may be a pandemic that may kill millions before it’s over, leaving them to breach protocols and scramble to fill roles with specialized staff. On one hand, the CDC is saying what they believe to be facts such as: you can’t get the virus from and infected person while they’re in the incubation period of 2-21 days. If this statement were true, then why do authorities quarantine people who have had contact with the infected person during that time?
The CDC is claiming that you can only get the virus from an infected person’s bodily fluids such as urine, vomit, and diarrhea. It is rarely mentioned, if at all, that you can get it from sweat glands when the person’s skin is touched and saliva! What if an infected person sneezes or coughs?
It is rarely mentioned, if at all, that Ebola can survive on surfaces for up to three days and still be active. So if an infected person touched a door handle and they had bodily fluids on their hands, how may people would that infect?
The virus is so contagious that healthcare workers and anyone coming in contact with an infected patient must wear hazmat gear for their protection, yet we are seeing photographs surface of a man without hazmat gear on the plane that helped transport one of the nurses who contracted it from “patient zero”.
The American public was told by the CDC and Obama administration when this was unfolding, that the chances of Ebola landing on American soil was “extremely low”, yet it came here. The CDC director told the American people that the workers who came in contact with Eric Duncan were all being quarantined for 21 days, yet two women who took care of him were out in the general public infected with Ebola. One of the nurses was able to get on a plane to Cleveland and potentially infect thousands of people.
The CDC and the Obama administration refuse to place travel bans on flights to and from Ebola-stricken Africa. The American people were told by the CDC that they had “protocols” in place to identify a sick person with Ebola. They decided that taking a person’s temperature would be an effective measure in doing that. Considering there are usually no symptoms during the 2-21 day incubation period, that tactic is rendered useless.
With all of the conflicting reports and misinformation brought on by the CDC, one lesson should be clear, the American people need to read between the lines and do their own investigating on the subject of Ebola. Pure common sense would allow a person to siphon through the garbage being fed to them by an opportunistic administration and a failing CDC director.
People need to take matters into their own hands to protect themselves and their families from impending doom because the CDC and the administration are not looking out for them. When the answer to solving the madness is simple, like banning all travel to and from Ebola-stricken Africa and the administration won’t do it, one has to wonder if the intention is a PC move or something more sinister?
With elections fast approaching, could it be that this is the reason for the hesitation to protect the American people? With the way this situation has been handled so far, nothing would be shocking.
