The American Psychiatric Association is updating definitions again.
The people who decided — by a split decision of 58% majority — that homosexuality is not a mental disorder paved the way for what later became known as the LGBT (&c) movement.
Sodomy was decriminalized. Then tolerated. Then accepted. Then normalized. Then weaponized (just ask the baker who didn’t want to endorse a gay wedding.)
Why should you care? Maybe you think it’s none of your business what consenting adults are doing behind closed doors. (Or in a parade.)
Fair enough. But — as some of us have warned — other taboos are being challenged. ‘Zoophilia‘, incest and, yes, pedophilia are among them.
Huffpo reported on it — and didn’t even seem particularly unsettled by it.
In a move toward destigmatizing pedophilia, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) in its updated Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), distinguishes between pedophiles who desire sex with children, and those who act on those desires.
The former group — those who want to have sex with children but whose desires are not distressing or harmful to themselves or others — is no longer classified as having a psychiatric condition in the updated DSM.
…The change in the DSM, a kind of Bible among medical professionals, lawmakers, and drug and insurance companies, doesn’t just apply to pedophilia, but to several other deviant sexual desires listed in the manual. It represents “a subtle but crucial difference that makes it possible for an individual to engage in consensual atypical sexual behavior without inappropriately being labeled with a mental disorder,” explains the APA in its DSM-5 Paraphilic Disorders Fact Sheet.
The new manual specifies that in order for an atypical sexual behavior to be classified as a mental condition, a person must:
1. Feel personal distress about their interest, not merely distress resulting from society’s disapproval; or
2. have a sexual desire or behavior that involves another person’s psychological distress, injury, or death, or a desire for sexual behaviors involving unwilling persons or persons unable to give legal consent. –read more
Why is this distressing?
For one thing, children can’t give consent. They can’t even order a beer or get a tattoo. But the Left will likely overlook that petty inconvenience like they already do for abortion.
For another thing, we have seen Hard-left websites like Salon publish articles sympathetic to pedophiles. Is THAT a problem?

According to the ACLU, the suit is designed to stifle the dissemination of the group’s unpopular beliefs: advocating consensual sexual relationships between adult men and boys and abolishing age-of-consent laws that classify adult sex with children as rape. Plus, NAMBLA should not be punished for the crimes of two men and their beliefs should be protected, despite their unpopularity.
They aren’t advocating rape. They ‘just’ want us to stop calling the thing they want to do ‘rape’.
