“F” for Obama: The Presidential Report Card
As we pull within a few days of the national election day, it’s time to examine the incumbent and what he has accomplished in the last four years and see if we can stomach him for another four. Well, in the opinion of this writer Obama should receive a big fat “F” in every category. I can’t seem to find the person whose life has been made better in last 4 years. The only people who seem hell-bent on re-electing President Obama fall into two categories: Socialist Liberals also known as Progressives; and entitlement recipients. However, in order to give everyone a fair shake, we will examine the three most important categories of the Presidency. They are domestic policy, foreign policy and the economy.
On the domestic policy front the President has enacted policies that extend in a lot of ways into many other sections and categories of government. For instance the crowning achievement of the Barack Obama administration would have to be the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or more commonly known as Obamacare. According to Rasmussen Reports, This has been opposed by more than half of the country since March 23, 2010! It is surely the first thing on the chopping block when and if Mitt Romney becomes the 45th President of the United States. Within this one single piece of legislation the Obama Administration managed to shred the Constitution and offend more than half of America. The President has willfully gone against the will of the people and violated the rights of the Catholic Church just for starters. Some other issues of noteworthy mention would be the executive order on immigration, the justice department’s refusal to defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), and the president’s constant mentioning of class warfare. This is where all President Obama’s domestic policy energy went to and it’s all been an abject failure.
Foreign policy is not something that most American’s paid close attention to before 9/11 and that attention has diminished again in the following decade. However, now with the troubling events of the Arab Spring, the failure in Iraq and Afghanistan and the resurgence of Al Qaeda seen most recently in the Libya embassy attack, American’s are beginning to pay close attention to how we conduct business overseas.
President Obama was all-too-ready to get involved with the political uprisings in the Middle East and although they are still holding on to the idea that it was the right thing to do, history will only remember it as an abject failure and counter to the interest of the United States. Iraq and Afghanistan have continued to drag on and although President Obama did remove us from Iraq, the manner in which he did so left a major power vacuum that many people, myself included, believe will result in increased Iranian influence in the fledgling democracy. Barack Obama’s policies in Afghanistan have resulted in floundering and now we are seeing an alarming number of Afghan troops killing our own. In short the President’s unprecedented apology tour set him up to play from a position of weakness and now we are reaping the fruits of that weakness all over the world. Based on this and President Obama’s statements to Russia about flexibility, I am lead to say his foreign policy is a complete failure that not even the death of Osama bin Laden could resurrect.
Finally we reach the economy. This has been at the center of most of the debate amongst Americans. Mainly because it is what everyone is suffering from. President Obama’s choices have taken us down a road to record debt and almost no positive outcome. Gas is higher than it has ever been; unemployment numbers are through the roof and more people than ever are on food stamps and other various assistance programs. President Obama has repeatedly stated that he is a champion of the middle class but by his own vice president’s admission the middle class has been under fire for the past four years.
Because of things like Obamacare and various talks of taxation, small businesses that provide the majority of jobs in America have slowed their hiring and if it continues they show little interest in increasing it. Does everyone remember the stimulus bill? Barack Obama and his administration told us if we passed it unemployment would be just under six percent today. Even with all of the manipulations of the October numbers the administration can’t even get close to that. We went into debt so President Obama could “hook-up” his campaign donors like Solyndra. The Obama economic policy has brought us nothing but debt and heartache. Most Americans worry more about their financial future and how they are feeding their kids than they did before Barack Obama took office and decided to “fundamentally change” America.
These are just a few examples because this is a column and not a full-length book. These alone should be enough for anyone to see that Barack Obama is woefully inept and in over his head. I would fail the president in every category but all you really need to do is ask yourself one question: Are you really more optimistic about America and is your life truly better than it was before we went on this socialist odyssey?
Barack Obama said that if he couldn’t fix the economy in four years it would be a one term proposition, I say we honor his wishes.
