Starbucks To Hire 10K Refugees After Trump’s Executive Order

Published on January 30, 2017

If Starbucks is so ‘virtuous’ why didn’t they…?

Starbucks, always first in line to show their Progressive Values, made a public announcement in response to The Executive Order that everyone is buzzing about.

Starbucks Corporation CEO Howard Schultz said Sunday the company will hire 10,000 refugees in 75 countries over the next five years.

The announcement comes just two days after President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday suspending all refugee admissions from any country for 120 days, placing a 90-day moratorium on the entry of any citizen from seven Middle Eastern countries, and capping the number of refugees in 2017 at 50,000.

Schultz laid out the details of the employment initiative in a letter to employees, promising the company would do “everything possible,” to support the workers affected by the ban, Reuters reports. Starting in the U.S., Starbucks will begin the initiative by hiring people who worked with former U.S. troops as interpreters and support personnel. –DailyCaller

This is called ‘virtue signalling’. Announcing to the world that you hold the politically-correct view on an issue.

Here’s where we call them out:

Two days — TWO DAYS! — after Trump’s Executive Order, Starbucks CEO makes this massive hiring announcement spanning 5 years (but he’ll be gone in April).

This is him REACTING to something Trump has said, and trying get free publicity and headlines for aligning himself against it.

He knows nobody will fact check this five years from now to see if Starbucks followed through. (How could they?)

Schultz knows he’ll score points with the Latte-sipping crowd. (Of course! They tilt politically left.)

Why WOULDN’T he do this? Well, here’s a reason:

Maybe because it’s a lie? Schultz doesn’t give a damn about the refugees.

Bold claim! Can we back it up? You bet!

If Schultz REALLY cared about the plight of refugees (a real concern in some parts of the world. Just ask the forgotten refugees of Nepal!), he would NOT have waited until Trump’s announcement to ‘Do Something’.

Also, Schultz might have spoken up when Obama did the same thing. For longer. But Obama’s a Democrat. So who cares?

Schultz Could have shown he is FOR something (refugees) instead of leveraging hate AGAINST something (ie: #NotMyPresident).

Share if Schultz is just another political opportunist leeching off of public sympathy.
