This man is a professor, shaping the minds of impressionable young adults. What could possibly go wrong?
If he wrote something half as incendiary about ANY other group, the public outrage would be deafening. But because of today’s political climate, he felt quite secure in making such horrific sentiments public.
Before we get to WHAT he said, let’s look at WHY.
We should not really be surprised that he went down this road, considering his own bio page.
Professor John Eric Williams, according to his profile, has been an Associate Professor of Sociology and Trinity College Faculty Member since 1996.
That same profile and his work so far make him seem somewhat one-dimensional in his studies — Everything is racism.
Johnny E. Williams is the author of African-American Religion and the Civil Rights Movement in Arkansas (University Press of Mississippi 2003) and Decoding Racial Ideology in Genomics (Lexington Books 2016). The former book examines the role of religious culture in motivating civil rights protest among African-Americans while the latter investigates the complex role racialized culture plays in delimiting how genome researchers think about human genetic variation. He is the author of numerous articles examining culture’s role in politics, social movement mobilization and scientific knowledge production.
He is also currently writing The Persistence of White Sociology (Palgrave Macmillan) which explores how conventional sociology as a theory, method and ideology functions to ensure the viability of systemic racism.
In today’s toxic culture, what was this man’s educated contribution to ‘reasonable public discourse’? The professor shared this ‘uplifting’ article:
It was written in response to the shooting of Scalise, and dripping with a visceral hatred for ‘white’ ‘heterosexual’ ‘cisgendered’ oppressors. The author was upset that his life was saved by a black lesbian.
He was careful to stop short of calling for ACTIVE violence but even that was not because it would be morally wrong to do so, but because it would be strategically foolish, due to their being outnumbered.
He didn’t stop there.
A Connecticut professor recently called white people “inhuman assholes” and shared an article about letting “bigots” die in a post on Facebook.
Trinity College professor Johnny Eric Williams shared his thoughts publicly on social media, saying, “fed the fuck up with self-identified ‘white’s’ daily violence directed at immigrants, Muslims, and sexual and racially oppressed people. the time is now to confront these inhuman assholes and end this now,” Campus Reform reports.
Williams also said, “It is past time for the racially oppressed to do what people who believe themselves to be ‘white’ will not do, put end to the vectors of their destructive mythology of whiteness and their white supremacy system. #LetThemFuckingDie.” —
Strangely, the actual VIOLENCE is directed at the people he hates.
He lives in a world of his own imagination where those who diagree with him only disagree because they are hateful bigots, and not because they have different ideas.
He has convinced himself that OTHERS are evil, and as a result, has literally embraced evil and hate.
And he is teaching students. About race.
