The Presidential ‘Bully Pulpit’ and Social Media have now converged into something new and very powerful.
Left-leaning Twitter has been known to close high-profile right-leaning accounts. Is Trump next?
Remember Milo? Whatever you think of his person or his politics, there is no doubting that he was a serious thorn in the side of the Left.
For one thing, he was a flamingly gay libertarian and a threat to the “all gays hate Republicans” narrative. In fact, he was a big Trump booster long before Trump had won the Primary.
His account was closed.
Instapundit? Another big Conservative Twitter presence was suspended because he tweeted something not very pc about protesters on highways.
One guy was suspended seemingly for wrong views on climate change.
The Left are weaponizing social media.
Heidi Beirich, spokeswoman for the Southern Poverty Law Center, told USA TODAY that the center had asked Twitter to remove more than 100 accounts of white supremacists who violated Twitter’s terms of service. She also pointed to two alt-right accounts that had been verified by Twitter, Spencer’s and Heimblach’s. – read more

You know whose account they DIDN’T call for closing?
This guy: Who once said ‘We must rise up and kill those who kill us‘. If that isn’t an explict call to violence, then what is?
It wasn’t that long ago that people who reported ISIS jihadi accounts were shut down by Twitter for ‘harassing’ them.
But can Twitter afford to shut down Trump? He’s always trending.
He IS the buzz that drives Twitter these days. His Tweets are what everyone else tweets about, or retweets, or reacts to.
Twitter needs him like CNN needs their bogus Russia story. It’s driving their income, bigly.
Trump is YUGE for Twitter. His tweets are like crack to them.
Could they make his account go dark if even if they wanted to? They’re hooked.
‘The way President Trump behaves on Twitter suggests that he very much wants the media attention. He says that the Tweets are intended to bypass the ‘fraudulent media’ and speak directly to his base,’ Anderson said. ‘But even with 33 million Twitter followers, our data shows that the media coverage of what he says generates attention that is tens of thousands of times greater than the reach he gets from Twitter himself.’
Anderson also weighed in on the president’s tweet this weekend, sharing a video of him performing in a WWE match, with his opponent edited to by the ‘CNN’ logo.
‘The tweet with the WWE clip and the CNN logo this morning is just the latest incarnation of the phenomenon. And this Tweet is designed to create faux drama much like the staged “fight” it depicts,’ Anderson said. -Read more

Their commitment to the Culture War? Or the bottom line?
If they are sweating out this decision, and it shouldn’t be that difficult, it means they never learned the life lessons in this book.
