The left’s trajectory isn’t a surprise but the speed at which it is arcing toward totalitarianism is stunning.
Yours truly, as Charlottesville was spinning out of control this past summer, predicted that by now the left would be protesting statues of America’s founders. All that happened much faster than expected and, all the same, not a soul left or right has complained about the five statues of Lenin that stand on American soil. (One is in East Manhattan so it isn’t as though these are obscure icons to a man responsible for more death, destruction, and wholesale woe than anyone in the past 200 years – Hitler included).
Remember how barely a year ago the left demanded police be equipped with body cams? We were told, if there were body cams, that would be a satisfactory step forward in ensuring police officers behaved well during interactions with the public.
Did you know body cams are racists and insufficient?
That’s right. The left has turned on body cams. They think they are racist because a police department could review the data collected and write a report based on what the data contains. That in turn renders them an insufficient bulwark against police brutality.
See how all this works? A body came collects video. Had America’s most famous – and only – white hispanic George Zimmerman been equipped with a body cam, then the left’s narrative would have been decimated. Ditto goes for all the other cases from the gentle giant in Missouri to Freddie Gray and so on. In all cases, some young man of color decides to behave in accordance with the lifestyle one thousand rap songs have preached, and the end result: he takes actions that legally and necessarily require a police officer use deadly force against him.
The left can’t allow truth like that to persist versus their narrative of the poor, downtrodden black person – no wonder the left has done nothing to improve the lot of the inner city for three generations. So now the body cam must be denounced as racist.
This also takes us closer to the left’s ultimate goal. What is it? They want to disband ALL police departments. What they haven’t articulated is what they’d like to see enforce law and order in lieu of police departments.
As rapidly as things are moving these days, I’d suspect before the 2020 election we’ll see our first example. Chances are the left will propose something that sounds more brown shirt than blue. It will have the word “community” in its title and the charter will ramble endlessly about “inclusion” and “diversity”.
Thus, Antifa will transition from masked goon squads into protectors of our social order as defined by the left.
